Volunteering at Mechanics' Institute Volunteer with Mechanics' Institute and become part of a vibrant San Francisco tradition. Share your energy and enthusiasm in a historic setting where culture, curiosity, and community come alive every day. Help us spark conversations, welcome guests, and keep this 1854 landmark thriving for the future. Volunteers must be Mechanics' Institute members. Do you enjoy Mechanics' Institute events, programs, and films? Consider signing up as a volunteer for events, and contribute to a wonderful institution and the cultural life of our community. Volunteers receive complimentary admission to events and get the opportunity to work closely with staff, engage with other institute members and the public, meet the authors and speakers, and have an inside view of event production. To find out more about becoming an Events Volunteer, please contact Andy Talajkowski at programs@milibrary.org or 415-393-0116.
