MECHANIC - WATER/WASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITY (Temp to Perm)

Responsibilities: Perform work on major and minor repair work and overhauls on plant's engines, motors, pumps, and related equipment Schedules work to be done and determines type and quantities of materials needed for such work Inspects buildings and equipment for needed maintenance and repair Tunes up engines; sets valve clearances; and cleans and adjusts regulators, gas, and other controls and devices

Qualifications: Knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment, and tools used in the construction, repair, and operation of engines, pumps, and other mechanical equipment related to wastewater treatment plant operations and procedures Knowledge of the principles and practices of an effective mechanical, structural, and grounds preventive maintenance program and operations of internal combustion engines and electrical pump motors Basic electrical knowledge involved in working on pumps, motors, and other equipment; equipment, tools, and materials used in maintaining and repairing wastewater treatment plant and related equipment Demonstrated experience in safety principles and practices, and related state and federal laws and regulations Must be willing to obtain Level 1 wastewater treatment certification within a year of being hired (paid by employer) On call rotation required
