About Braided Braided is a workflow automation platform purpose-built for behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment providers. We help care teams eliminate manual, error-prone processes that get in the way of high-quality care by connecting EHR systems, intake workflows, clinical documentation, and operational tools into a single, coherent data layer. We’re a revenue-generating company with real clients, real traction, and a product already creating value in the market. Every engineer at Braided has a meaningful influence over the product, architecture, and company trajectory. We operate with high trust, high autonomy, and a strong bias toward building practical solutions that move the business and our customers forward.
The Role:
In this role, you’ll be a generalist owner across the full stack, working on backend services, API integrations, client-facing product experiences, infrastructure, and the systems that connect them. You’ll have meaningful influence over technical direction, product decisions, and the evolution of engineering practices as Braided grows. You will not simply be handed a queue of predefined tickets. You’ll identify problems, shape solutions, and ship work that directly improves how our customers operate. You’ll collaborate closely with product, leadership, and customers to understand complex workflows, translate real-world needs into technical requirements, and communicate clearly about what we are building and why. This role is ideal for an engineer who wants broad ownership, direct customer context, and the ability to turn ambiguity into reliable, well-designed software. Strong communication matters here as much as strong code. Our Core ValuesAt Braided, our values guide how we work, serve our customers, and grow as a team.
Empowering Customer Success:
We form true partnerships with our customers, helping them solve real problems, improve operational performance, and achieve better outcomes. We don’t just give customers what they ask for; we help them discover what they didn’t know they needed. Built on TrustWe operate with reliability, honesty, and integrity. We follow through on our commitments, communicate transparently, protect what matters, and build confidence through consistent, ethical action.
Always Advancing, Always Improving:
We believe the great can always become greater. We are curious, open to feedback, and committed to continuous learning, product evolution, and service refinement so we can get better every day.
Inspired by ImpactWe are driven by the purpose behind our work. Our technology helps customers improve care, reduce manual effort, and create better outcomes for the people they serve. That impact motivates us every day.
What You’ll OwnClient Integrations
You’ll design, build, and maintain integrations with the systems behavioral health operators rely on every day, including EHR platforms like KIPU, Sunwave, Alleva, Lightning Step, CRMs, billing systems, and other third-party APIs. Your work will help turn fragmented tools into connected, reliable workflows.
Workflow Automation:
You’ll extend and improve Braided’s core automation platform, including event-driven workflows, data transformations, scheduling, routing logic, monitoring, and error handling. You’ll help make complex operational processes feel simple, dependable, and scalable.
New Product Experiences:
As Braided expands into new product lines, you’ll help build the interfaces and tooling that support them. This may include internal tools, client portals, configuration UIs, and other product surfaces that make our platform easier to use and more powerful for customers.
Infrastructure and Reliability:
You’ll help own the cloud infrastructure behind Braided, including AWS, deployments, CI/CD pipelines, observability, reliability, and security. You’ll play a key role in making sure the platform is stable, secure, and ready to scale.
Security and Compliance:
You’ll help maintain and strengthen our security and compliance practices as we handle sensitive protected health information across client systems. You’ll contribute to a platform customers can trust in a high-stakes healthcare environment.
Client-Facing Technical Support:
You’ll serve as a technical partner during onboarding and integration setup, helping diagnose issues, explain technical decisions clearly, and work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to get customers live successfully. Architecture and ScaleYou’ll contribute meaningfully to how we structure the codebase, design systems, approach scalability, and prepare the platform for its next phase of growth.
What We’re Looking For:
TechnicalFull-Stack Engineering ExperienceYou have 5 to 7+ years of professional software development experience and are comfortable working across the full stack, from backend systems and infrastructure to practical frontend interfaces.
PHP and Laravel Expertise:
You have strong proficiency in PHP and Laravel, with the ability to design, build, maintain, and improve production systems. Experience with other backend frameworks is a plus. API and Integration ExperienceYou have experience building and consuming REST APIs, working with webhooks, and integrating with third-party platforms. You can reason through messy external systems and turn them into reliable, maintainable workflows.
Frontend Fluency:
You have enough frontend experience with React, Vue, Livewire, or similar tools to build functional, user-friendly internal tools and product surfaces when needed.
Cloud Infrastructure:- You have hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS, including services such as EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, or comparable technologies.
- DevOps and Deployment
- You are comfortable with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, deployment automation, and the operational practices needed to ship software safely and reliably.
Non-Technical
Early-Stage Mindset:
You are comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment where priorities can evolve quickly. You thrive with ambiguity, take ownership without waiting for perfect instructions, and enjoy a short feedback loop between idea, build, and ship.
Client-Facing Communication:
You can speak confidently with non-technical stakeholders, including directors of operations and clinical leaders. You can explain what is happening, what it means, and what we are doing about it in clear, practical language.
High Ownership:
You take responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks. When something gets difficult, you dig in, ask good questions, and stay engaged until the problem is understood and resolved.
Strong Written Communication:
We work async-first, which means clear writing matters. You can document decisions, explain tradeoffs, share updates, and create alignment without relying on constant meetings.
Curiosity About the Domain:
Behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment are complex, high-stakes areas. You are interested in understanding the workflows, constraints, and real-world problems our customers face, and you care about building software that genuinely helps.
Customer Support Mindset:
Our customers operate in care environments that do not always fit neatly into standard business hours. From time to time, you may be asked to help support urgent client needs outside normal operating hours.
