Every facade we build starts as a bid. We need someone who makes sure each bid is one we can actually build at the price. Building Blocks Facades designs and manufactures architectural facade systems in GFRC, UHPC, and integrated glazing for projects across North America. Facade design, manufacturing, large-format 3D printing, and R&D all happen under our roof on Florida's Space Coast. As our Pre-Construction Manager, you'll take each RFP and turn it into a complete, accurate proposal. That means a verified takeoff, real supplier pricing, a complete scope, and a design basis our operations team can build to. Sales owns the customer and the price. You own the quality of everything underneath it. This is a senior individual-contributor role with no direct reports, reporting to our VP of Sales. If you've done hands-on estimating for a facade, curtain wall, or precast subcontractor and want your numbers to hold up all the way through fabrication, read on.
What you'll do:
You'll run the bid workflow end to end, from RFP to award turnover:
Intake: Log each RFP, build the bid calendar, track addenda, and flag gaps in the documents so Sales can send RFIs.
Takeoff: Perform GFRC and UHPC takeoffs from architectural drawings and specs, including panels, areas, edges, returns, embeds, and connections.
Supplier pricing: Issue RFQs to glazing, steel, anchor, freight, and install partners, then level the quotes and document what each one includes and excludes.
Estimate: Build the cost estimate covering materials, molds, labor, freight, install, and contingency, with quality levels and alternates priced as separate line items.
Design coordination: Bring in our architectural, technical, and engineering design teams early to confirm the panel strategy and connections and record the design basis behind the price.
Proposal: Write clear scopes, inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications, and submit every bid on time.
Turnover: Hand Project Management a complete bid file on every award, and keep the bid log current with status, value, and won/lost reasons.
In your first 90 days, you'll own every active bid, put a standard bid package in place, and hand off every award with a complete bid file. After that, you'll compare your takeoffs and estimates against actual shop quantities and costs so our numbers keep getting sharper.
What you bring 5+ years of estimating or pre-construction experience at a facade, curtain wall, precast, cast stone, or architectural metals subcontractor, where you carried fabrication cost risk.
Takeoffs you've done yourself from architectural drawings and specs, not just reviewed.
Experience building estimates from supplier RFQs and leveling competing quotes.
Proposals you've written with clear inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications, treated as real risk control rather than boilerplate.
Strong Excel skills and fluency in Bluebeam or similar takeoff software.
The organization to run several bids at once without missing a due date.
Nice to have:
GFRC or UHPC experience, or precast estimating that includes mold costs.
Design-assist work with architects and facade consultants.
Model-based takeoff from Revit or Rhino.

Why estimators choose BBF:Numbers that mean something. You're measured on accuracy and on-time submission, not win rate, so you never have to shade a number to land a job. Clear authority. You own takeoff quantities, supplier selection, and the cost build. Sales sets price and margin on top of your numbers. Design access. You'll work directly with our in-house design and engineering teams instead of guessing what the shop will build. Room to build. You'll shape the templates, tools, and bid process that our estimating function runs on. Space Coast living. Merritt Island offers beaches, launch views, and an easy drive to Orlando.
