Industry leading manufacturing and transportation company is looking for a Sr. Product Safety and Compliance Engineer for their Chicago location! To note: this role is an on-site role to their Northeast Chicago location and does require the candidate to be a US Person (US Citizen or Permanent Resident).
Responsibilities:
Serve as a technical authority for regulatory compliance and product safety within the US transit market.
Ensure products meet applicable FMVSS/CMVSS, ADA vehicle accessibility, FTA-funded procurement, and APTA requirements while partnering cross‑functionally to embed compliance early in design.
Define verification strategies and approve test plans and compliance evidence.
Partner with engineering and quality teams to manage safety and compliance risk.
Interface with customers, suppliers, test labs, as well as regulators and legal counsel as needed as compliance subject matter experts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or similar).7+ years’ experience in product safety, compliance, or regulated vehicle engineering.
- Hands-on experience with FMVSS/CMVSS application
- Working knowledge of ADA vehicle accessibility requirements
- Strong technical documentation and cross‑functional leadership skills
