This is the estimator seat at an established residential design-build contractor. About 75 percent of the work is new square footage: custom homes, large additions, ADUs and small multifamily. Projects run $250,000 to $4 million, and the average is around $650,000.Why this seat A virtual assistant does the takeoffs and loads the templates, which covers 30 to 60 percent of the work before it reaches you. The system is already built. With the templates and pre-priced items, a basic to mid-grade project takes about 90 minutes to 3 hours to price. You are in the room. You walk the site with the salesperson and present the estimate with them as the technical voice. You own the number from the first site walk to the handoff to the project manager.
