Manufacturing Engineer

Join PBS Aerospace Are you looking to join a fast-growing Defense company that powers the United States most advanced drones and interceptors? PBS Aerospace is a rapidly growing designer and manufacturer of world-class small turbojet engines. These engines provide superior power-to-weight ratios with low fuel consumption making them the preferred choice for the most advanced US Department of Defense drone, interceptor, and missile systems. Our TJ40 and TJ80 turbojet engines power the munitions at the center of the U.S. defense strategy as advanced drones and interceptors dominate the modern battlefields. We are rapidly expanding our facilities, standing up automation, co-locating our supply chain, and building the workforce that will carry this company into the next decade. Located in the heart of Georgia's aerospace corridor, PBS Aerospace is experiencing significant growth as we expand our manufacturing, design engineering, and operational capabilities. This growth creates exciting opportunities for talented professionals who want to make a meaningful impact while working alongside some of the industry's brightest minds. If you enjoy working with a small and fast-moving team on the world's most cutting-edge aerospace systems, we invite you to apply and make a significant impact. Overview and Key Responsibilities This role is at the intersection of design, manufacturing, and test. You will support PBS Aerospace's strategic growth initiatives in close cooperation with members of Design Engineering, Operations, and other PBS Aerospace Divisions. As a member of the technical team, you will play a pivotal role in advancing PBS Aerospace's position in the small turbine engine marketplace by improving efficiencies and solving problems to increase production throughput. Turbojet Assembly Production Support: Lead detailed project scopes for multiple products, to support aggressive timelines and production volume Develop, and qualify detailed assembly work instructions, to a consistent standard; continuous improvement of instructions that are in place Support tracking key production metrics such as takt time, cycle time, yield, etc. Apply process improvement methodologies and tools (e.g. value stream mapping, problem-solving, visual management, etc.) to reduce manufacturing build hours and quality issues; increase production rates; and remove variability from complex processes Work in close collaboration with Technicians, and other members of the Engineering team to improve training, understanding, and reduce non-conformities Hands-On Manufacturing Experience: Own Manufacturing Design scopes from ideation through execution and validation ex. tooling fixtures to improve accuracy and/or repeatability Work directly on the production floor, supporting engine assembly, fluid systems flow testing, full engine acceptance testing, and equipment operation and maintenance needs High Cross-Functional Exposure: Lead root cause analyses coordinating and informing teams and stakeholders across Design, Production, Quality, etc. Collaborate with design engineers to evaluate designs for manufacturability and test requirements, then implement in a rapidly evolving production environment Partner with Quality counterparts on PFMEAs, control plans, inspection, and compliance
