Build the Team. Grow the Business. Transform the Homeowner Experience. At Birdwatch, we’re redefining what homeowners expect from home maintenance and improvement. Our members trust us to care for their homes, and when they’re ready for a larger home improvement project, we’re the team they call.
We’re looking for a Director of Projects to build and lead Birdwatch’s growing Projects Division across the DMV region. This is more than a construction leadership role—it’s an opportunity to build the systems, team, vendor network, and operational excellence that will define how Birdwatch delivers projects for years to come.
From kitchen and bathroom remodels to basement finishes, decks, additions, roofing, siding, windows, flooring, exterior renovations, and other major residential improvements, you’ll oversee the entire business—from project conversion and profitability to execution, quality, and member experience.
If you’re energized by building teams, creating scalable systems, and delivering an exceptional customer experience, we’d love to meet you.
What You’ll Do: As the leader of the Projects Division, you’ll own both strategy and execution.
Responsibilities include:
Lead and grow Birdwatch’s residential Projects Division across the DMV region and expansion markets. Build, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Project Managers and project coordinators. Create scalable systems, workflows, reporting, and operational standards that improve project delivery. Oversee project financial performance, including revenue growth, profitability, forecasting, pricing, and margins. Develop and strengthen relationships with contractor and vendor partners. Improve project conversion through standardized consultations, estimating, and proposal processes. Partner with Services, Onboarding, Member Success, Product, Operations, and Vendor Partnerships to create a seamless member experience. Monitor project health across the portfolio, proactively identifying risks, removing bottlenecks, and driving accountability. Establish quality standards that ensure every project reflects the Birdwatch brand. Continuously improve how Birdwatch delivers projects as the company scales.
What Success Looks Like:
The best Directors of Projects don’t just manage construction—they build organizations that consistently deliver exceptional results.
In this role, you’ll be successful by:
Growing project revenue while maintaining healthy margins. Building systems that create visibility, accountability, and predictable execution. Leading a high-performing team that consistently delivers outstanding projects. Creating an exceptional homeowner experience that drives trust, referrals, and long-term member loyalty. Developing strong contractor partnerships that scale with the business. Using data to make smarter decisions and continuously improve performance. We’re Looking For Someone WhoHas significant experience leading residential construction, remodeling, or home improvement operations. Has successfully managed multiple projects and project managers simultaneously. Understands estimating, budgeting, forecasting, margins, and project financials. Is passionate about building systems and improving operational processes. Naturally develops people through coaching, accountability, and leadership. Communicates exceptionally well with homeowners, contractors, vendors, and internal teams. Thrives in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment where building is just as important as managing. Uses technology and data to improve visibility and drive better decision-making. Believes that delivering a great customer experience is just as important as delivering a great project. Why Birdwatch? We’re building something different.
Birdwatch combines technology, trusted relationships, and exceptional service to create an entirely new homeowner experience. We believe homeowners deserve a trusted long-term partner—not just another contractor—and we’re building the team, systems, and culture to make that possible.
As Director of Projects, you’ll have the opportunity to shape one of the company’s fastest-growing business units, influence company strategy, build an incredible team, and leave a lasting impact on how Birdwatch scales.
If you’re excited about building businesses, developing people, and creating exceptional homeowner experiences, we’d love to talk.
