Job Description:
Job Description Senior Industrial Controls Troubleshooting Specialist (Allen‑Bradley PLC‑5/5000)
Location:
Magnolia, MS 39652
A day in the lifeYou start at shift handoff, scanning downtime from the prior crew and lining up the day’s highest-impact work orders. Minutes later, a line stalls. You grab your laptop, jack into the PLC, and trace ladder logic to the rung that’s stopping the machine. Is it an input that never made it? A VFD fault? A photoeye misaligned? You verify signals at the I/O, read the print, and decide if the root cause is electrical, controls, or actually mechanical in disguise. When production is back, you log clear notes so maintenance and operations know what to watch for next time.
What you’ll handleRapidly diagnose electrical and controls faults on production equipment to restore uptime.
Connect to PLCs, follow the logic, and pinpoint conditions causing machine stops.
Troubleshoot PLC I/O, photoeyes, sensors, VFDs, and both analog and digital signals.
Read and interpret electrical schematics and machine drawings to guide fixes.
Work primarily with Allen‑Bradley PLC‑5 and Logix 5000, with exposure to other PLC platforms.
Discern when a suspected controls issue is actually a mechanical failure.
Participate in shift handoffs, review downtime history, and prioritize work effectively.
Support ongoing maintenance projects; heavier project activity typically occurs on Saturdays and Sundays.
Communicate findings and repair needs clearly to maintenance and production teams.
What makes you successful 8+ years in industrial maintenance with a strongelectrical/controlsfocus.

Mechanical troubleshooting ability is a plus.
Focus of the role: This position centers ontroubleshooting existing systemsrather than PLC programming. If you thrive on unraveling hard-to-find faults and keeping production moving, you’ll feel right at home.
