Linguist

Position Overview: Seeking a Linguist III to support FAIR in linguistic research and multilingual AI analysis. Required Qualifications0–3 years of relevant professional/research experience. Completed PhD in Linguistics required; theoretical Linguistics preferred. Native/near-native English plus native/near-native proficiency in one qualifying language: Filipino/Tagalog, Cebuano, Thai, Lao, Swahili, Hebrew, or qualifying Ethiosemitic language. Python, SQL, and basic NLP required. Strong knowledge of syntax, morphology, phonology, sociolinguistics, typology, pragmatics, and corpus linguistics. Experience working with large datasets and cross-functional ML/NLP/Engineering/Data Science teams.

Key Responsibilities: Analyze linguistic data and AI model outputs. Identify linguistic errors, bias, toxicity, and other language-related issues. Conduct typological, sociolinguistic, and NLP-related research. Develop and review annotation and language evaluation guidelines. Analyze vendor quality and provide actionable feedback. Collaborate with AI/ML researchers, engineers, and native speakers. xhqgsiq Contribute to research projects and publications.
