Job Description:
Build the gear systems that keep rail moving Imagine starting your day at 6:30 a.m., blueprint in one hand and precision tools in the other. By 5:00 p.m., you've assembled a gearbox that helps a train run smoother, safer, and more efficiently. That's the impact you make here—four focused days a week, Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
What you will do:
In this role, you assemble and rework precision rail gearboxes from the inside out. You'll mount housings and couplings; install gears, bearings, spacers, covers, and fasteners; and complete detailed alignment, fitting, drilling, and tapping using hand and power tools. You will read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and work orders; measure tolerances and clearances with precision instruments; and inspect, test, and adjust each unit to meet exacting customer and quality standards. Your day also includes marking identifying information, attaching nameplates, keeping parts and work areas clean, maintaining your tool inventory, and partnering closely with supervisors and engineers on procedures, safety walks, 6S audits, and process improvements. What you bring High school diploma or equivalent. Applied knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and statistics. Clear English communication skills and the ability to document and maintain accurate records. Familiarity with EHS regulations, product standards, workmanship expectations, and assembly methods. Basic computer literacy plus understanding of production processes, raw materials, quality control, costs, and lean principles. Hands-on knowledge of machines and hand/power tools, including operation, use, basic repair, and operator-level maintenance.
