APPLY NOWRemote, USA | $70,000–$80,000 Base + Uncapped Earning Potential Love sport? Love sales? Ready to build something from the ground up? What if your next sales role wasn't about selling the same products to the same people, but helping build an exciting new business at the intersection of sport, events and commercial partnerships? We're looking for an ambitious, commercially minded Sales Manager to join a fast-growing international media and events business as it expands into the sports industry. This is an opportunity to play a key role in developing a new portfolio of B2B sports events, bringing together the people, brands and businesses shaping the future of sport. Think less traditional exhibition hall, more high-impact experiences where decision-makers connect, partnerships are formed and real business gets done. You'll have the freedom to make things happen, the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership and a genuine voice in how the business develops. If you're a natural relationship builder who enjoys winning new business and wants to leave your mark on a growing venture, this could be the role for you.
The Opportunity:
Working directly with senior leadership, you'll take ownership of the commercial growth of a developing portfolio of sports industry events. From sponsorships and strategic partnerships to exhibition opportunities, hosted-buyer programmes and creative brand activations, you'll help businesses find new ways to connect with the sports industry while building a strong and sustainable revenue stream. This is a hands-on, new-business-focused position. You'll be picking up the phone, opening doors, building relationships, developing proposals and closing deals. You'll also have the opportunity to influence what you're selling, helping shape the packages, pricing and commercial strategy as the portfolio grows. You'll have the autonomy to make decisions, test ideas and develop your own approach, with the support of a leadership team that values initiative, fresh thinking and results. Who Will You Be Selling To? You'll build relationships with businesses looking to reach decision-makers across the wider sports ecosystem, including: Professional sports teams, leagues, stadiums and venues. Colleges, universities and collegiate athletics programmes. Amateur, youth and grassroots sports organisations. Sports tournament organisers and event operators. Sports tourism organisations, destinations and travel providers. Sports technology, equipment, apparel and merchandise businesses. Brands investing in sponsorships, partnerships and experiential marketing. Hospitality, accommodation and transportation providers. Agencies and suppliers supporting the sports industry. You don't need to know every corner of the industry, but an existing network in sport, events, sponsorship or related commercial markets would be a real advantage.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Winning new business and driving revenue
- Build, manage and develop a strong sales pipeline across a growing portfolio of events and commercial products.
- Identify prospective clients, open new conversations and turn opportunities into revenue.
- Use a proactive mix of telephone outreach, LinkedIn, referrals, networking, industry events and creative prospecting to generate leads.
- Develop sponsorship, exhibiting, partnership and brand activation opportunities tailored to each client's objectives.
- Manage the complete sales cycle, from initial contact and discovery through proposals, negotiations, contracts and close.
- Build relationships with senior decision-makers and develop a clear understanding of their commercial priorities.
- Take responsibility for achieving quarterly and annual revenue and margin targets.
- Growing relationships and existing accounts
- Develop long-term partnerships with clients across the sports business community.
- Identify opportunities to grow existing accounts and introduce clients to other relevant events and products.
- Build a strong national network of contacts across professional, collegiate and amateur sport.
- Represent the business at its own events and selected industry conferences.
- Helping build the business
- Work with senior leadership to refine commercial packages, pricing and sales strategies.
- Help develop compelling presentations, proposals and sales materials that bring opportunities to life.
- Share market intelligence, customer feedback and emerging industry trends to help shape future events.
- Collaborate with marketing, operations, content and event delivery colleagues to create an excellent experience for sponsors, exhibitors and attendees.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, pipeline reporting and revenue forecasts.
- This isn't a role where someone else creates the strategy and hands you a script. You'll be expected to roll up your sleeves, take ownership and help develop the commercial playbook as the business grows.
What We're Looking For:
We're interested in people who can sell, build trust and spot opportunities. Your ability to create relationships and deliver commercial results matters more than ticking every box on a traditional job description.
Ideally, you'll bring:
At least three years of successful B2B sales experience.
A track record of winning new business and developing commercial relationships.
Experience selling sponsorships, events, media, advertising, technology, hospitality or business services.
Strong consultative selling skills and the confidence to engage senior decision-makers.
Experience managing a pipeline, negotiating deals and working towards revenue targets.
Excellent communication, organisation and relationship-building skills.
A self-starting attitude and the ability to manage multiple opportunities independently.
A willingness to travel for events, conferences and team meetings when required.
Experience within sport, collegiate athletics, amateur sport, sports tourism, events or sponsorship would be particularly valuable. An established network in any of these areas could give you a head start.
The Kind of Person Who'll Thrive HereYou're competitive, curious and commercially minded. You enjoy meeting people, asking the right questions and finding opportunities others might overlook.
You understand that strong relationships drive sales, but you're equally comfortable asking for the business and being accountable for the result.
You're proactive rather than reactive. You don't wait for leads to land in your inbox, and you enjoy the challenge of turning a blank page into a healthy pipeline.
Perhaps you're already working in events, media or sponsorship and want greater ownership. Maybe you're a strong B2B salesperson looking for an exciting new sector. Or you could already have a network in sport and be ready to turn those relationships into meaningful commercial partnerships.
Above all, you're excited by the idea of joining a business at an early stage of its journey, where your ideas, relationships and results can genuinely influence its future.
What's In It For You?
- This is an opportunity to do more than sell an established product. You'll be joining a growing international business as it develops a new proposition within the sports market.
- You'll benefit from:$70,000–$80,000 base salary, depending on experience.
- A generous commission package offering significant earning potential.
- Fully remote working anywhere in the United States.
- Direct access to senior leadership and the opportunity to influence commercial decisions.
- The chance to help launch and grow a portfolio of B2B sports industry events.
- Exposure to professional, collegiate and amateur sports markets.
- Freedom to develop your own sales approach and build a national network.
- Travel to exciting events and major industry gatherings.
- The opportunity to grow alongside an expanding business and take on greater responsibility over time.
- A Little About the Business
- You'll be joining an ambitious international media and events organisation that specialises in building communities around passionate audiences and creating experiences that bring people together.
- With an entrepreneurial culture, a flexible approach to working and a focus on empowering its people, the business encourages fresh ideas, challenges convention and gives individuals the opportunity to take ownership of their work.
- The ambition is simple: create experiences that stand out, build meaningful relationships and develop a business with long-term potential.
- Interested in being part of the journey?
- If you've got the commercial drive, relationship-building skills and ambition to help grow something exciting in the sports industry, we'd love to hear from you.ashley.heyworth@konkergroup.com
