APPLYSenior Tax & Assurance Manager (CPA) | Jacksonville, NCStarting base salary: $125,000, commensurate with experience, plus performance-based compensation. GWP Accounting is hiring a hands-on CPA for an established Jacksonville practice. You will own complex tax and compilation/review work, serve an assigned client base, and have day-to-day support from firm leadership. The focus is technical delivery and client relationships, not office management. WORK ARRANGEMENTPrimarily in-office in Jacksonville, with in-office work expected during tax season. Some remote work may be possible outside tax season, depending on client and firm needs.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Review individual and business tax returns and prepare complex returns when needed.
- Lead assigned compilation and review engagements, including GAAP-based financial-statement review and firm quality-management procedures.
- Serve as the primary contact for assigned clients, answer accounting and tax questions, and deliver responsive, accurate work.
- Support monthly bookkeeping clients with interim reporting and coordinate with leadership on technical and delivery questions. REQUIRED
- Active CPA license and North Carolina licensure or eligibility for NC reciprocity/mobility.
- 7+ years of relevant public-accounting experience, including tax-return review and compilation or review engagements.
- Strong GAAP knowledge, professional judgment, client communication, and ability to work regularly from the Jacksonville office, especially during tax season. PREFERRED, NOT REQUIRED
- Construction or nonprofit client experience.
- Familiarity with payroll-tax compliance, including Form 941.
- Experience with Canopy, CCH ProSystem fx or UltraTax, CaseWare, or QuickBooks Online.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
$125,000 starting base salary, commensurate with experience, plus performance-based compensation.
