Nursing Technician

Cone Health is seeking a compassionate Nursing Technician for our Orthopedic unit, working three 12-hour night shifts. In this role, you’ll support RNs with direct patient care, including vital signs, hygiene, mobility, and safe transfers for post-surgical and orthopedic patients. You’ll document in EHR, assist with admission and discharge tasks, and maintain a clean, safe environment. Provide direct bedside care including hygiene, comfort, and basic daily living support for orthopedic patients on night shift Measure and document vital signs, intake/output, and patient observations in the EHR accurately and timely Assist with safe patient mobility, repositioning, and transfers using appropriate techniques and equipment Support RNs with post-operative care tasks, including monitoring pain levels and patient status Assist with admissions, discharges, and patient transport within the facility Collect specimens and follow infection control and safety protocols consistently Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient environment on the unit Communicate changes in patient condition promptly to nursing staff and interdisciplinary team Support patient and family education by reinforcing instructions provided by licensed staff Participate in team huddles and contribute to a collaborative, patient-centered culture Vital signs monitoring Electronic health records (EHR) documentation Orthopedic patient positioning and transfers Mobility assistance and ambulation Specimen collection Infection control procedures Basic wound and dressing care assistance Use of patient lift and transfer equipment Basic life support (BLS) skills Communication with interdisciplinary care team Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Orthopedic patient care training a plus
