Description:
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT/CRT) with 1+ years of experience and WV licensure for a night shift position at a Level 1 Trauma Center and major teaching hospital. Details Respiratory Therapy unit with patient beds located on one floor alongside a 2-3 bed ICUPatient population primarily consists of COPD and pneumonia cases Utilizes Puritan Bennett 840 and Nihon Kohden NKV-330 ventilators Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:15-06:45 Weekend requirement with rotation every third weekend May float within scope to meet facility needs, including to sister facilities No on-call requirements Uses Cerner charting system
Requirements:
- License required if applicableRRT or CRT with WV license required
- Minimum 1 year of experience requiredBLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Community hospital experience required
- Cerner charting experience required
- Pending state license accepted
- Skilled in ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and SIMVExperienced in airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and suctioning
- Proficient in arterial blood gas drawing and interpretation
- Skilled in chest physiotherapy and pulmonary hygiene
- Experience with medication delivery systems including MDI and nebulizers
- Able to work independently with strong time management skills
Additional Information:
- Level 1 Trauma Center and major teaching hospital, member of the Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH)855 staffed beds
- Provide respiratory care across adult critical care, emergency department, and pediatric settings
- Perform patient transport including inter-departmental and ambulance transport
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 - March 31) unless medical exemption documentedCOVID vaccine not required
- Fit testing required in advance using an approved mask, with travel up to 100 miles possible to complete testing
- First-time travelers accepted
- Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from last permanent employment date before returning as a traveler
- Current employees of Vandalia Health System facilities are not eligible for travel contracts within the health systemRTO requests must be submitted two weeks prior to the next schedule and approved by manager
- Local candidates considered within 100 mile radius; candidates between 75-100 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Orientation held every other Monday or Thursday depending on schedule
