We’re Hiring: Orthopedic Bodyworker at Stepping Into Wellness

Location: Oakland, CA — Laurel/Dimond District

Schedule: Part-time to start, with room to grow

About Us: Nestled in a cozy, historic Victorian home beside a flourishing orchard, Stepping Into Wellness is an integrative wellness clinic in Oakland’s Laurel/Dimond District. We bring together orthopedic acupuncture, bodywork, rehabilitative movement, herbal and nutritional consultations, and wellness counseling to help our clients feel better, move better, and stay well. Over the years, we’ve built a loyal, growing community of clients who send their moms, kids, coworkers, and neighbors our way. We’re proud of those relationships and the trust our community places in us. We believe healthcare works best when it’s collaborative. Our team enjoys digging into challenging cases, exchanging ideas, and learning from one another. We’re looking for a practitioner who shares that spirit and wants to be part of a team that genuinely cares about its clients and colleagues.

About the Opportunity: We’re looking for a skilled Sports & Injury Massage Therapist / Orthopedic Bodyworker who enjoys working with active bodies, sports injuries, and repetitive-use conditions. This is an opportunity to focus on what you do best—providing thoughtful, effective bodywork—within an established integrative clinic. We have an existing client community, front desk and scheduling support, and a team of practitioners who value collaboration and cross-referrals. We’re looking for someone who combines strong clinical skills with excellent communication and a thoughtful approach to ongoing care. Our ideal practitioner helps clients understand what they’re working on, why a particular treatment approach makes sense, and what the next steps might look like. We want our clients to feel cared for, confident in their treatment plan, and supported throughout their recovery. The position will start part-time, with the opportunity to grow your schedule as client demand and availability align. Who We’re Looking For Qualified and insured: CAMTC-certified, with your own professional liability insurance. Experienced in orthopedic care: You have experience or specialized training in sports injuries, orthopedic conditions, and repetitive-use problems. Training in ART, NMR, or NKT is a plus. A great communicator: You can explain your assessment and recommendations in a way that helps clients understand their options and feel involved in their care. Reliable and professional: You respect clients’ time, arrive prepared for appointments, communicate proactively about scheduling changes, and follow through on commitments. Collaborative by nature: You enjoy working alongside other practitioners, sharing clinical insights, and considering the bigger picture of a client’s health. Organized and comfortable with technology: You maintain clear clinical notes and are comfortable using JaneApp, our scheduling and electronic health record system. Training is available. Above all, we’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, values the relationships they develop with clients, and understands that excellent care includes both the treatment itself and guidance about what comes next.

What You’ll Do: Provide therapeutic bodywork focused on orthopedic conditions, sports injuries, and recovery. Assess new clients, establish goals, and recommend an individualized plan of care, including appropriate follow-up frequency. Help clients understand their treatment options and schedule follow-up visits when appropriate. Complete accurate clinical documentation in JaneApp, generally within 24 hours of each session. Coordinate with our acupuncturists and other practitioners when collaborative care would benefit a client. Maintain a clean, organized, welcoming treatment room. Communicate promptly with clients and our front desk to support smooth scheduling and a positive client experience. Stay current with relevant continuing education and clinical best practices.

What Success Looks Like: We provide the clients, the space, and the administrative support. We’re looking for a practitioner who makes the most of that foundation through excellent care, clear recommendations, and lasting client relationships. That means helping new clients feel welcome, leaving them with a clear understanding of their treatment plan, and making follow-up care easy to navigate. It also means honoring scheduled appointments and communicating early when changes are unavoidable. We’ll check in together at 30, 60, and 90 days to discuss how things are going, review schedule growth and client continuity, and identify ways we can support a successful working relationship. Our goal is to help you develop a consistent, sustainable schedule.

Why You’ll Love Working With Us: An established client community: Work with clients who find us through our reputation, word of mouth, and existing referral network. Front desk support: We help manage scheduling and payments so you can focus on clinical care. A collaborative team: Exchange ideas, discuss cases, and work alongside practitioners who value one another’s expertise. Room to grow: Expand your schedule as client demand grows, without the burden of managing your own separate practice. Flexibility: Establish a regular schedule that works for both you and the clinic. Care for the caregivers: Enjoy monthly complimentary treatments and discounts on additional sessions, supplements, and herbs. Professional development: Continue learning and expanding your clinical skills in a supportive environment. A special place to work: Our historic home features a producing orchard, greenhouse, and veggie garden. It’s a little different from your typical clinic, and we love it that way. Compensation $70 per booked hour, plus tips and benefits listed above We’re excited to meet someone who cares deeply about their craft, values their clients, and wants to contribute to a team that helps people feel better and move through life with greater ease. Stepping Into Wellness is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. Everyone is welcome here, and we celebrate diversity in all forms.

Please note: We do not accept resumes from agencies, headhunters, or other third-party recruiters.
