Augusta UMC seeks contemporary worship leader 10/4/2026
Augusta 1st UMC is seeking a new Contemporary Worship Leader who will coordinate with the pastor for planning of the early contemporary service. The primary focus of this position is to create a flow of music that invites all participants to experience God’s Spirit through song. Worship music draws us into the presence of the Lord for prayer, and stirs our hearts and minds to receive the Living Word. Thus, the Worship Leader’s weekly tasks include:
choosing music that supports the scripture and worship theme
leading vocalist(s), accompanist(s) and/or band members in rehearsal (Sundays one hour before 8:30 a.m. Contemporary Service)
leading music for the Contemporary (early) Sunday morning worship service
participating and coordinating with the pastor and choir director for blended worship services held on the first Sunday of each month
leading prayer in worship
being available for special services particularly during Lent and Advent, but also Vacation Bible School Pay is negotiable depending on experience.
The current worship leader who just graduated from college and has accepted a job, accompanied himself on guitar. There is no accompanist nor worship band at this time. We need a worshp leader who can connect with accompanists or build up a small praise band.
