We exist to accelerate innovation. We do this by giving more people the opportunity to participate in the venture economy by building the financial infrastructure that makes it possible for more people to invest in world-changing startups. We also build tools for startup founders that help them run their operations, so they can focus on building their company.
AngelList is the nexus of venture capital and the startup community. We support over $171B+ assets on our platform, and we’ve driven capital to over 13,000 startups. 57% of top-tier U.S. VC deals involve investors on AngelList.
While our scale is large, our ambitions are even larger – we’re innovating on the infrastructure for venture and individual investors and the startups they invest in. Come build with us!
About the Role:
The private markets now exceed $13T in AUM as more high-growth companies stay private longer. We are looking for a founding engineer on our new Capital Products Team. This team is building new products to streamline every part of the investing lifecycle—from discovery and diligence to transaction flows and reporting. You’ll be at the forefront of creating robust backend services and intuitive user interfaces, seamlessly integrating with AngelList’s broader ecosystem, regulatory obligations, and our best-in-class KYC-to-transaction workflows.
We’re looking for an engineer who thrives on complexity—collaborating across product, design, operations, and compliance teams to deliver a frictionless user experience. If you’re excited about shaping how individuals and institutions invest in the private markets, this role is for you. At AngelList, we pride ourselves on having an outsized impact on the industry. Teams are explicitly small and built on mutual respect, high trust, and low management. It’s not a fit for everyone, but when there’s a fit, it’s one of the most rewarding places to work!
We have other engineering opportunities posted for specific teams, so please just apply to one. The team will consider you for all open roles that could be a fit.
You will have the opportunity to: Help build the world’s most seamless capital marketplace built for LPs investing in private markets
Connect investors to investment opportunities around the world that would not exist without AngelList
Learn the venture financing business inside and out - from the ground up (Thinking about starting a company one day?)
Have more ownership and responsibility for building something early and shipping large features with quick iterations
Accelerate innovation in the world!
You are most likely: Having 6+ years of experience building large-scale web applications, including significant contributions to an early product from 0 to 1
Full-stack generalist or a backend specialist with proficiency and willingness to contribute across the stack
Writing clean, scalable code in one of our core languages, or excited to dive into our stack (Typescript, React) and pick it up quickly
Thrive in ambiguous and complex, fast-moving engineering environments where you help shape product direction
Self-starter who has built something meaningful from scratch–your own startup, side project, open-source tool, etc.
How success will be measured in this role: Consistently delivers high-quality, well-tested code that meets the team’s goals and timelines
Actively contributes to team discussions and decisions, bringing thoughtful technical perspectives
Helps deliver a 0-to-1 product, balancing urgency and time-to-market with core engineering principles
If you don’t tick every box above, we’d still encourage you to apply. We’re building a diverse team whose skills balance and complement one another.
AngelList has offices in a few cities, and our engineering hub in San Francisco. We’re focused on hiring from this hub office so engineers and product teams can collaborate in the office at least twice per week (Tuesdays and choice between Wednesday or Thursday).
Compensation:
The compensation for this role consists of a competitive base salary, benefits, and equity package. The base salary for this role is $200,000+ annually but actual will vary based on a number of factors including a candidate’s professional background, experience, and location. Additional details about our Total Rewards package will be provided during the recruitment process.
