Business Development Executive Commercial Roofing & Strategic Accounts (56301)

Employment Type: Full-time Compensation: $90,000-$120,000 annual base salary, plus commission

Travel: Travel to customer locations and events will be required. Open doors. Build relationships. Help an established team grow. Horizon Roofing has approximately 200 employees, 50 years of experience, and expected 2026 revenue exceeding $60 million. Our goal is to reach $100 million in annual revenue within five years, and we are adding a dedicated business development professional to support that growth. We are looking for someone who knows how to reach decision-makers, start meaningful conversations, earn trust, and turn relationships into business opportunities. You should enjoy pursuing new customers-and recognize the opportunities that exist within relationships a company has already built. This is not a sales-management position. You will work alongside our existing salespeople and estimators-not supervise them, replace them, or compete with them for accounts. Your role is to create new relationships, expand existing ones, and help our sales team earn additional business.

About Horizon Roofing: Horizon Roofing provides commercial roofing, reroofing, roof repairs, maintenance, inspections, and architectural sheet metal services. We combine decades of experience with a commitment to safety, customer service, technology, and continuous improvement. Our team invests in the people, equipment, and processes needed to take on challenging projects and serve customers over the long term. You will represent an established company with experienced sales, estimating, service, and operations teams behind you.

The Opportunity: You will develop relationships with general contractors, data-center builders and owners, property-management companies, facility managers, and corporations. Your work will include opening entirely new accounts and collaborating with existing Horizon account owners to reach additional properties, offices, divisions, project teams, and decision-makers. This is a proactive, hands-on position. You will research prospects, make calls, send personalized outreach, attend meetings, ask thoughtful questions, and follow through consistently. You will not be waiting for inbound leads or simply attending networking events without a plan. As opportunities develop, you will bring in the appropriate Horizon salesperson or estimator and remain involved in the relationship. Our salespeople and estimators will lead technical recommendations, scope development, pricing, and proposals.

What You Will Do: Develop new customer relationships. Identify target companies and the people involved in contractor selection, construction, facilities management, capital projects, and vendor approval. Use calls, personalized emails, LinkedIn, referrals, industry events, and in-person meetings to earn introductions and build relationships. Expand existing accounts. Work with Horizon's current account owners to uncover opportunities at additional buildings, offices, divisions, and projects. Strengthen established relationships rather than take them over. Understand customer needs and qualify opportunities. Learn how each customer buys, who influences decisions, what challenges they face, and when work is likely to move forward. Determine whether the opportunity fits Horizon's capabilities and establish a clear next step. Collaborate with sales and estimating. Coordinate customer introductions and provide useful background on the relationship, needs, decision-makers, and timing. Stay involved through agreed follow-up and the award process without duplicating efforts or creating confusion for the customer. Manage account plans and follow-through. Maintain accurate contacts, meeting notes, opportunities, and next steps in our customer relationship management system. Keep leadership and the sales team informed about progress, obstacles, and support needed. Represent Horizon responsibly. Build credibility through preparation, responsiveness, and honest communication. Coordinate internally before making commitments about pricing, schedules, staffing, or service coverage.

What We Are Looking For: A demonstrated record of developing business. You can explain how you personally opened new commercial accounts or expanded existing relationships, what actions you took, and what results followed. Confidence with proactive outreach. You are comfortable initiating conversations, reaching decision-makers, handling objections, and continuing a thoughtful pursuit when the first attempt does not produce a meeting. Strong listening and communication skills. You ask useful questions, understand the customer's priorities, and communicate clearly with both customers and internal teams. Organization and accountability. You manage multiple relationships, use a CRM effectively, follow through on commitments, and take ownership of moving opportunities forward. A team-oriented approach. You share information and credit, respect existing account relationships, and understand that your success includes helping our salespeople succeed. Experience in commercial roofing, construction, building services, property services, or another industry serving similar buyers is preferred. Experience with general contractors, data-center organizations, property managers, facility leaders, or corporate owners is especially valuable. Candidates must be able to meet the office, customer-visit, and travel expectations described in this posting.

What Success Looks Like: Success means new relationships that produce qualified opportunities, expanded business within existing customers, and strong coordination with Horizon's sales team. We value consistent prospecting and disciplined follow-through, but activity alone is not the goal. We are looking for meaningful account progress, profitable awarded work, and customer relationships that continue to grow. Why Join Horizon? This is an opportunity to help shape a dedicated business development role at an established company with ambitious growth goals. You will work with company leadership and experienced professionals across multiple departments. You will have a broad range of services to introduce, an established customer base with room for expansion, and the opportunity to make a visible contribution to Horizon's future. You will have ownership of your business-development efforts without responsibility for managing a sales department.
