Job Description Journeyman Pipe WelderAustin, TXThe role involves pipe welding and fabrication using SMAW (Stick), FCAW, MIG, and TIG techniques. Should have experience with X-ray-quality welds, ASME B31.1/B31.9 standards, and be willing to join the Plumbers & Pipefitters local union.
Responsibilities:- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints to determine pipe layout and welding requirements
- Perform pipe welding using FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas) and TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding techniques according to AWS (American Welding Society) standards
- Conduct quality inspections of welds and fabricated parts to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, including inspection reports, weld maps, and fabrication logs
Qualifications:- Proven experience as a Journeyman Pipe Welder with a strong background in construction site environments
- Certification as a Journeyman Pipe Welder or equivalent qualification demonstrating proficiency in AWS standards
- Extensive knowledge of pipe welding techniques including FCAW, SMAW, GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), TIG welding, and related safety procedures
- Mechanical knowledge of piping systems, metal materials, construction practices, and fabrication shop processes
- Familiarity with construction site safety protocols and the use of hand tools, power tools
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills to interpret technical drawings effectively
