A leading national provider of commercial landscaping and property-maintenance services is seeking a driven Business Developer to generate new business across the Chicago Central or Chicago Northwest market. This is a full-cycle, new-business sales position focused on recurring commercial landscape-maintenance and, where applicable, snow-removal contracts. This is not a landscape-installation or construction-sales role.
What You’ll Do:
Prospect for and secure new commercial landscape-maintenance accounts.
Build relationships with property managers, facility leaders, building owners, developers, HOA leaders, and commercial real-estate professionals.
Conduct property visits and discovery meetings to understand customer needs, service expectations, and operational challenges.
Develop customized proposals that demonstrate the value of the company’s services.
Manage the complete sales cycle, from initial outreach and site walks through negotiation and contract execution.
Pursue recurring landscape-maintenance and snow-removal opportunities.
Build and maintain a healthy, accurate sales pipeline.
Consistently meet activity, pipeline, revenue, and gross-profit goals.
Partner with operations, finance, marketing, and branch leadership on proposals and customer transitions.
Maintain accurate activity and opportunity information in Salesforce.
Represent the organization at networking events, trade associations, and commercial real-estate organizations.
Monitor local market conditions, competitors, and potential business opportunities.
What We’re Looking For:
Three to five years of successful B2B sales experience, preferably involving commercial contracts or recurring services.
A demonstrated record of prospecting, pipeline development, and sales-goal attainment.
Experience selling to mid- and senior-level commercial decision-makers.
Strong consultative discovery, presentation, negotiation, and closing skills.
Ability to independently manage a large geographic territory and multiple opportunities.
A competitive, proactive, and results-oriented approach.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience using Salesforce or another CRM platform.
Existing knowledge of or relationships within the Chicago commercial-property market are preferred.
Experience in landscaping, facility services, property management, construction, or another commercial-service industry is helpful but not required.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the territory.
Work Environment:
This is a field-based position rather than a traditional office role. The Business Developer regularly visits prospects and commercial properties, attends networking events, and conducts site walks. Administrative responsibilities—including outreach, follow-up, proposals, scheduling, and CRM management—may be completed remotely or from the branch. A detailed compensation and benefits package will be reviewed during the interview process. The company is an Equal Opportunity and E-Verify Employer.
