TAYLOR ROAD BAPTIST WORSHIP VALUES
… to see theologically rich truth proclaimed together
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
(Colossians 3:16)
Hymns, songs, or anthems to be rich in biblical truth.
Old songs would be fresh and new songs would be familiar.
The core hope is each song points to God and the gospel clearly.
… to see multi-generations and diversity of believers worshipping together
After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” (Revelation 7:9-10)
Strength of TRBC is a strong balance of diversity in age and race.
Leading all ages and all peoples of all backgrounds in worship together is a beautiful picture of gospel and unity.
Recognize and utilize the giftings of all ages and stages.
… to see excellence in each component of worship
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:17)
Everything sung, played, or spoken would be done with excellence.
In recognizing different gifts and talent levels, leverage for most excellent experience.
Preparation, not just musically but spiritually, of all who are leading in worship is essential for leading the congregation in worship.
… to see next generations of worship leaders trained and equipped to lead
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. (3 John 4)
Utilize gifts of the next generation to lead and engage in worship.
… to see creativity in using gifts, talents, and abilities of members in worship
For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. (Romans 12:3-8)
Creatively employ the creative arts to engage in uniquely worshipful ways.
… to see unity as we celebrate and magnify our God and Savior
I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. (Ephesians 4:1-6)
Singular worship of God leads us into unity rather than division.
Constancy in lifting up core value of truth, scripture, praise, and worship to unify.
… to see worship extend beyond gatherings to homes and communities
My mouth is filled with your praise, and with your glory all the day. (Psalm 71:8)
Creatively engage parents in family worship and post-Sunday worship reflection.
