Experience Level: Entry-Level / JuniorJob Description
Turn your CAD and construction experience into a specialized career in fire protection design. Titan Fire & Life Safety is seeking a motivated Junior CAD Designer to join our growing fire protection design department. We’re looking for someone who has experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting software, understands basic construction principles, and is interested in learning how to design fire sprinkler systems. Previous fire sprinkler design experience is NOT required. We will provide training. This is an excellent opportunity for someone currently working in architectural drafting, mechanical design, plumbing, HVAC, engineering, or commercial construction who wants to develop valuable technical skills in a specialized industry. You’ll work alongside experienced fire sprinkler designers, learn industry-specific design software, and gradually take on more responsibility as your knowledge and abilities develop. We’re looking for someone who wants more than just another drafting job. We want someone interested in building a long-term career.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and modify fire sprinkler system drawings using CAD-based design software.
Review architectural, structural, and mechanical construction plans.
Assist senior designers with sprinkler layouts and system design.
Coordinate fire sprinkler systems with other building trades.
Learn fire protection codes, design standards, and industry requirements.
Assist with hydraulic calculations and material takeoffs.
Participate in design coordination meetings.
Communicate with project managers, designers, and field personnel.
Maintain accurate drawings and project documentation.
Develop the skills necessary to independently design fire sprinkler systems.
Required Qualifications:
Experience using AutoCAD or comparable CAD/drafting software.
Basic knowledge of construction methods and terminology.
Ability to read and understand construction drawings.
Strong computer skills and technical aptitude.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

Architectural or engineering drafting.
Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC drafting.
Commercial construction experience.
Familiarity with Revit, Navisworks, or BIM coordination.
Experience working with construction documents.
Technical education in drafting, architecture, engineering, or construction management.
Previous fire sprinkler or fire protection experience.
We are more interested in your aptitude, work ethic, and willingness to learn than whether you already know fire sprinkler design.
What We Offer:
Paid, hands-on training in fire sprinkler system design.
Mentorship from experienced fire protection professionals.
Opportunities to learn specialized design software and industry standards.
Professional development and opportunities for advancement.
Exposure to a variety of commercial and industrial construction projects.
A collaborative, team-oriented work environment.
The opportunity to develop a specialized technical career in an essential industry.
Career GrowthOur goal is to develop the right candidate into a capable, independent fire sprinkler designer.
As you gain experience, you’ll have opportunities to advance into increasingly complex design projects, hydraulic calculations, project coordination, and potentially senior design or design management positions.
The Ideal Candidate:
You might be a great fit if you:
Currently work as a CAD drafter and want to expand your career opportunities.
Have some construction experience and enjoy technical problem-solving.
Like working with building plans and figuring out how systems fit together.
Are detail-oriented and take pride in producing accurate work.
Want to learn a specialized skill with long-term career potential.
Are dependable, motivated, and willing to put in the effort required to become proficient.
We don’t expect you to know everything when you start. We do expect you to be willing to learn, ask questions, take ownership of your work, and continuously improve.
How to Apply:
Please submit your resume and a brief description of your CAD/drafting experience and construction background. (tscriven@titanfls.com or info@titanfls.com). We encourage applicants from architectural, engineering, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and commercial construction backgrounds to apply.
