Program Coordinator - Research
learnviaTacoma, WA
Remote (U.S.) · Full-time · Salaried · Grant-funded through summer 2029 About Learnvia Learnvia is a nonprofit learning collaborative, affiliated with Carnegie Mellon University, that works to help more college students succeed in gateway courses. Learnvia brings together research-based courseware, support for faculty, and continuous improvement driven by data. Our new National Science Foundation project expands Learnvia mathematics to two-year and broad-access colleges in courses like Pre-Calculus, Calculus I–III and Quantitative Reasoning. Alongside the rollout, the project builds a research program: cross-institutional studies of student learning, research–practice cycles that improve the courseware, and a national community of faculty "instructor-researchers" who study learning in their own classrooms.
About the role:
The Research Program Coordinator keeps the research side of this project running across colleges, a growing network of faculty, and partner teams. You'll manage the schedules, approvals, data collection, meetings, reports, and communication that turn a multi-site study into usable evidence and adds value for both the institutional partners and Learnvia. You'll report to the Director of Research on Learnvia's research team.
What you'll do:
Coordinate research across colleges. Guide each participating college through its research steps, including research approvals and data-sharing agreements. Explain study procedures, timelines and data requirements to faculty and campus staff, and problem solve to overcome any barriers. Manage data collection. Gather course and section data from faculty (such as grades, completion and DFWI rates) and implementation measures (how courseware and teaching practices are used), and keep it organized, documented and on schedule. Support the instructor-researcher community. Organize recruitment, onboarding and communication for each faculty research cohort, and help plan summer institutes modeled on Carnegie Mellon's LearnLab Summer School. Communicate findings. Turn research results into clear, plain-language summaries, slides and updates for faculty, administrators and funders, and help prepare research reports, conference presentations and publications. Support grant reporting. Track project milestones and help prepare progress reports for the National Science Foundation. Keep the network connected. Serve as the day-to-day contact between Learnvia's research team, other Learnvia departments involved in this grant, and college contacts. Schedule and run logistics for cross-institution meetings, keep shared materials and the project knowledge base up to date, and follow up on action items. What you'll bring At least three (3) years of experience coordinating research studies, grant-funded projects or multi-site programs, ideally in higher education. A bachelor's degree in education, statistics, social science, psychology or a related field. Experience with community colleges or broad-access institutions, whether as a staff member or instructor. Strong organization: you can track many deadlines, people and documents at once without dropping threads. Comfort working with data in spreadsheets, including cleaning, checking and documenting it. Clear, friendly written and spoken communication with faculty, administrators and researchers. Familiarity with human-subjects research processes (for example, IRB applications) and care with confidential student data. Experience planning workshops, institutes or professional learning events. Experience with learning science, educational data, or college mathematics courses.
