Overview: This Senior Credit Officer opportunity sits within the Real Assets Credit Risk team of a leading global financial institution, offering independent credit oversight and approval authority across a portfolio heavily weighted toward US Commercial Real Estate and CMBS — with a clear mandate to expand into broader real assets coverage including project finance. The role carries genuine credit authority — approving credit lines, managing exposures, monitoring collateral performance, and contributing to credit policy and global risk appetite frameworks — while operating with strong autonomy and strategic influence within a globally integrated risk organization. It's an ideal fit for a seasoned CRE and CMBS credit professional with 10+ years of experience who combines deep sector expertise with strong analytical judgment, collaborative instincts, and the ability to assess complex, multi-dimensional transactions under tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive credit assessments of counterparties and underlying real estate and real asset collateral; provide detailed analysis of historical performance, key risk factors, and structural considerations
  • Provide approval or recommendation for approval based on proposed limits and tenors; document recommendations clearly for final credit decision-making
  • Validate Obligor Risk Ratings, Basel II parameters including LGDs, and other key financial metrics across the real estate and real assets portfolio
  • Perform ongoing monitoring of portfolio credit quality including early detection of deteriorating credits and active participation in quarterly watch list review processes
  • Track credit and market trends across individual real estate and real asset classes; stay current on US market dynamics and regulatory practices
  • Assist the Portfolio Management and Governance team in preparing reporting for senior risk management and regulators
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of the bank's credit policy guidelines and overall risk appetite framework; participate in setting global risk appetite for real estate and real assets financing initiatives
  • Assess new business initiatives including white papers, New Product Committees, and business rules from a real assets credit risk perspective
  • Collaborate across the risk division and with business lines, legal, compliance, and other internal partners to ensure sound and timely credit decisions
  • Expand coverage scope over time into broader real assets including project finance as the portfolio and role evolve
