Senior Accountant (Leetsdale)

About the role: Allegheny Performance Plastics is hiring a Senior Accountant to own key parts of the month-end close and keep our financial reporting accurate, timely and audit-ready. A core part of the role is inventory accounting under our standard costing system: maintaining standard costs and analyzing inventory variances, including purchase price, material usage and production variances, so management understands what is driving product costs and margins. You will report to the VP of Finance and work closely with operations and our external auditors.

Key responsibilities: Lead assigned parts of the monthly, quarterly and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids and deferred revenue. Manage inventory accounting, including valuation, cycle count and physical inventory reconciliations, and reserves for obsolete or slow-moving stock. Maintain the standard costing system: update standard costs, analyze purchase price and manufacturing variances, and roll variances into cost of goods sold. Maintain the general ledger, chart of accounts and fixed asset register, including depreciation. Assist with cash management, including daily bank reporting, applying customer receipts (AR) and tracking vendor disbursements (AP).Coordinate with external auditors, prepare audit schedules and respond to requests. Support tax filings, including sales and use tax, property tax and year-end tax packages for outside preparers. Assist with ad hoc projects such as system implementations, new accounting pronouncements and acquisitions.

Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.3+ years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting, industry, or both. Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and the full-cycle month-end close. Hands-on experience with an ERP systems. DELMIAWorks/IQMS a plus. Clear written and verbal communication with both finance and non-finance colleagues.
