Associate Architectural Designer — Mirador Group | Houston, TX
For over 30 years, Mirador Group has built a design practice recognized throughout Houston and beyond for its ability to work across scales and communities, delivering thoughtful, high-quality architecture with creativity and rigor. The firm’s name comes from the Spanish word meaning “a place that commands an extensive view,” reflecting our belief that great architecture is not the product of ego, but of shared vision.
Our work and our culture have both been recognized. Mirador Group is the recipient of the 2026 AIA Houston Firm Award and the AIA Houston Emerging Professional Friendly Firm Award (2026 and 2024), honors that reflect not just design excellence, but a genuine investment in the design professionals building their careers with us.
We’re growing across Texas, and we’re looking for an Associate Architectural Designer to join our design team.
Why you’ll love it here:
Real growth, real support. “I love that I am always learning, but it never feels overwhelming because the team is so supportive and you are always encouraged to grow,” says one of our Associate Designers. 100% of our unlicensed architectural staff are actively enrolled in AXP. We invest in getting you licensed, not just getting projects done.
Boutique feel, big-firm capability. You’ll get exposure to a genuine diversity of project types and work across every phase, from Schematic Design through Construction Administration, not just one narrow slice of the process.
We mean it about balance. Flexible work schedules, limited overtime, and compensation when overtime is worked.
Real investment in you. Health plan contributions, 401(k) matching, short-term disability, bonuses, and dedicated support for your professional development and growth.
A culture built on our values. Creative. Passionate. Collaborative. Service-Oriented. Diverse & Inclusive. These aren’t just words on a poster in the break room; we live them day to day.
A firm on the move. Over 30 years in Houston, and now expanding our presence across the state. Join at a moment where your growth and the firm’s growth go hand in hand.
What you’ll do:
As an Associate Architectural Designer, you’ll take real ownership of day-to-day project proceedings while developing your design and technical skills. You’ll:
Prepare and present feasibility reports and design proposals to clients
Produce Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents, including 3D modeling, floorplans, elevations, sections, and details
Research reference and building materials to inform design decisions
Work through design and technical challenges with a good degree of independence
Manage planning and permitting documentation, including comment review and resubmittals
Coordinate with consultants and the broader project team through documentation and construction
What you bring: A professional or pre-professional degree in architecture
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
Working experience in Revit
Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset
Working knowledge of architectural standards, building codes, and documentation practices
Comfort across all phases of project development, from schematic design through construction administration
Ready to grow your career with an award-winning firm that’s shaping Houston’s built environment, and expanding across Texas? We’d love to hear from you.
