Senior Director, Agency Sales – Beverage Alcohol Surfside is the advertising operating system built for the retail majority, powering retail media and closed-loop measurement across more than 10,000 independent, regional, and specialty retailers. By aggregating fragmented retail supply into a single, addressable network and unifying first-party data, audience creation, media activation, and measurement into one platform, Surfside enables brands and retailers to reach verified shoppers and measure performance based on real outcomes. Surfside sits at the intersection of advertising, commerce, and data. We help brands and their agency partners reach consumers across digital and physical retail environments and connect media investment to measurable, transaction-linked consumer action.
The Opportunity:
At Surfside, the work environment is collaborative, fast-paced, and team-driven. We are seeking a senior agency sales leader to develop and expand strategic relationships across major advertising holding companies, media agencies, commerce practices, and independent agencies. This role will be responsible for positioning Surfside at the agency and HoldCo level—building relationships beyond individual campaigns and establishing Surfside as a strategic commerce media partner across agency clients and Beverage Alcohol portfolios. You will own a net-new revenue number against major holding companies, media agencies, commerce practices, and independent agencies that plan and buy media for BevAlc brands. You will source your own pipeline, run your own deal cycles, and close. The ideal candidate understands how agencies operate, how media investment decisions are made, and how to navigate complex organizations across planning, investment, programmatic, commerce, retail media, data, and client leadership teams. This person will develop senior relationships, identify opportunities across multiple agency clients, and translate Surfside's differentiated capabilities into scalable partnerships and meaningful revenue.
Key Responsibilities:
Own a Number: Carry and exceed an annual net-new revenue quota for agency-driven BevAlc business, measured on signed IOs, booked revenue, and billed revenue.
Generate Pipeline: Build and maintain a self-sourced pipeline of at least 3x quota through outbound prospecting, your existing network, referrals, and industry presence. Hit weekly activity targets for outreach, first meetings, and proposals.
Prospect and Open Doors: Identify and secure meetings with decision-makers across HoldCo and agency investment, planning, programmatic, commerce, retail media, and client leadership teams. Get Surfside into RFPs, upfronts, annual plans, and test-and-learn budgets.
Run the Full Cycle: Qualify, pitch, scope, propose, negotiate, and close. Manage multi-threaded deals across agency and brand-side stakeholders from first meeting through signature.
Executive Relationship Development: Build senior-level relationships across agency leadership, investment, planning, programmatic, commerce, retail media, data, and client teams.
Strategic Partnerships: Move Surfside beyond one-off campaign conversations toward annual planning relationships, preferred partnerships, portfolio opportunities, and broader agency adoption.
Agency Education: Establish a clear understanding of Surfside's differentiated role within the media ecosystem, particularly its ability to address the fragmented physical and digital retail landscape that traditional retail media networks may not reach.
Industry Presence: Represent Surfside at relevant agency, advertising, retail media, and Beverage Alcohol industry events and forums.
Qualifications
Experience:
8+ years of experience in digital media, ad tech, retail media, or commerce media sales with a documented history of hitting or exceeding quota selling to agencies. Be prepared to walk through your numbers by year.
Agency Relationships: Established relationships across major advertising holding companies and media agencies, ideally including senior contacts within planning, investment, programmatic, commerce, retail media, or client leadership.
Agency Expertise: Deep understanding of how agencies plan, evaluate, recommend, and purchase media on behalf of major advertisers.
Strategic Sales: Demonstrated ability to navigate complex organizations, develop senior relationships, and convert those relationships into large-scale commercial opportunities.
Advertising Knowledge: Strong knowledge of programmatic advertising, CTV, retail media, commerce media, audience targeting, first-party data, and measurement.
BevAlc Experience: Experience working with Beverage Alcohol advertisers is strongly preferred; an established network across BevAlc agencies and brands is highly valuable.
Executive Communication: Exceptional presentation, storytelling, negotiation, and relationship-building skills with the ability to communicate effectively with senior agency and client stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Leadership: Proven ability to work across sales, strategy, product, marketing, operations, and executive leadership teams.
Entrepreneurial Mindset: Comfortable building new relationships and commercial models rather than inheriting an established agency program.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field preferred.
What We Offer:
Competitive compensation package with performance-based incentives.
Comprehensive benefits, including health, dental, vision, and 401(k).A dynamic, supportive, and innovative work environment.
Flexible PTO.Monthly wellness stipend.
Opportunity to build Surfside's agency and HoldCo strategy and establish the company as a differentiated partner within the rapidly evolving commerce media landscape.
