Wenham Carter is proud to be supporting a fast-growing international industrial software company in the appointment of a Sales Director, North America (IOU & ISO Markets). Our client operates at the intersection of industrial software, energy infrastructure and digital transformation, helping organisations across the power sector use technology to improve the management of critical infrastructure, operational data and increasingly complex grid environments. With a strong international presence and ambitious growth plans in North America, the business is now looking to appoint a senior commercial leader to accelerate its expansion across North America.
The Opportunity:
This is a high-impact commercial role with genuine responsibility for developing the North American market. The focus will be on identifying and winning new business across Investor-Owned Utilities (IOUs), Independent System Operators (ISOs), Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs) and other organisations involved in the management of critical power infrastructure. You will own the sales process from market development and initial engagement through to complex enterprise-level negotiations and close.
Key responsibilities include:- Developing and executing a new-business strategy across the North American energy market
- Identifying, developing and closing complex enterprise software opportunities
- Building relationships with senior executives and decision-makers across target organisations
- Managing long and highly consultative sales cycles involving multiple operational, technical, commercial and regulatory stakeholders
- Developing the company's presence and credibility across the North American power ecosystem
- Working closely with pre-sales, product, marketing and delivery teams to build compelling customer propositions
- Contributing to the wider North American go-to-market strategy and helping shape future growth priorities
- Representing the business at relevant industry events and conferences
What we're looking for:
This is not a generalist enterprise software sales position. The successful candidate will have a strong, demonstrable track record of selling software into the North American power market, with particular credibility across IOUs, ISOs, RTOs or closely related organisations. You will bring:
- 7+ years of enterprise software sales experience within industrial software, OT, energy technology or a closely related sector
- A proven history of winning complex software deals within the North American energy market
- An established network of senior relationships across IOUs, ISOs, RTOs and/or other major power-sector organisations
- Experience navigating lengthy, multi-stakeholder enterprise sales cycles
- Strong executive presence and the ability to engage credibly with commercial, operational, technical and regulatory stakeholders
- A highly entrepreneurial approach, with the ability to create opportunities rather than simply manage an established territory
- The strategic mindset to contribute to market development while remaining commercially focused and hands-on
- Bachelor's degree required; an advanced degree in Engineering, Business or a related discipline would be advantageous
This is an opportunity to join a business with significant financial backing and growth ambitions to play a pivotal role in building its presence across one of the world's most important and rapidly evolving energy markets.
If you have established yourself within the North American power ecosystem and have a track record of turning relationships into significant software opportunities, this could be an excellent opportunity to take genuine ownership of a high-growth market.
