Contract Learning & Development Consultant
About the role:
Health Monitor Network (HMN) is building its People Practice supporting the company's next stage of growth. We're looking for an experienced L&D consultant to assess HMN's learning needs and design a set of training programs built around how HMN works: leadership and manager development, technical training for our network technicians, and selling-skills training for our network service teams. This role is central to the Engagement & Development phase of our People roadmap.
What you'll do:- Phase 1: Needs assessment (about the first 6–8 weeks)
- Interview ELT members, people leaders, and front-line employees in sales, service, and network operations.
- Run surveys and focus groups, and observe technicians and sales staff on the job, to find skill gaps and their business impact.
- Deliver a needs-assessment report: prioritized findings, a recommended curriculum, delivery approach, timeline, budget, and how success will be measured.
- Phase 2: Design and build
- Management 101: basics for new and first-time managers, such as setting expectations, giving feedback, having career conversations, coaching, and HMN's people practices.
- Leadership Essentials: for experienced leaders, covering leading through change, building accountability, developing talent, and working across functions.
- Network Technician Installation & Service Program: standardized, HMN-specific training on installation and service, including onboarding paths, job aids, skills checklists, and certification criteria. You'll build it alongside our subject-matter experts.
- Network Service Selling Skills Program: a consultative selling program covering discovery, objection handling, and account growth, built around HMN's offerings and timed to support the January 2027 Sales Kick-Off.
- Phase 3: Launch and handoff
- Run pilot sessions, gather feedback, and refine the programs.
- Train HMN facilitators and managers to deliver the content going forward.
- Hand over all materials, facilitator guides, and a measurement framework the People Team can maintain.
- What you bring 8+ years in learning and development, including leading assessments and building programs from scratch.
- Proven work in leadership and manager training, plus technical or sales training (both preferred).Strong instructional design, facilitation, and course-building skills, including Articulate 360 or similar tools.
- Experience training remote and field-based employees.
- A bachelor's degree is required. An advanced degree in organizational development, instructional design, or a related field, and ATD's CPTD, are preferred.
- Healthcare, media, or field service experience, or work in PE-backed companies, is a plus.
- How we'll measure success
- Needs assessment delivered on time and approved by the ELT.Programs piloted on schedule, including a sales-readiness piece for the January Sales Kick-Off.
- Participants report they're applying what they learned, and business measures show early improvement.
- HMN can run all programs independently by the end of the engagement.
