Job Description Job Description CONSTRUCTION FOREMAN / CREW LEADER $30–$45/HR • HOME MOST NIGHTS • STRONG BACKLOGKnow how to build? Even better at building a TEAM? Veritas Systems Construction is looking for an experiencedConstruction Foreman / Crew Leaderwho understands that great leadership isn't standing back and telling people what to do. It'splanning ahead, communicating early, setting the pace, teaching, holding the standard and getting GOOD work DONE together. We have a strong backlog of projects scheduled well into next year and are looking for the right leader to help strengthen our existing construction team and continue building for the future. HOME MOST NIGHTS This is a big one. Most of our projects are within approximately75 miles of St. Joseph, which means this position is designed to get youback home most nights instead of living out of hotels. Company transportation is provided from our shop to the jobsite. WE AREN'T ASKING YOU TO DO EVERYTHING And we mean that. You'll have support forestimating, bidding, procurement, materials, customer coordination, project documentation and overall project management. Your primary responsibility is clear: LEAD THE CREW. BUILD THE BUILDING. OWN THE FIELD. This is ahands-on leadership position. You'll work alongside the crew, set the pace and demonstrate the standard while also knowing when your job is to step back, plan ahead and make sure the entire crew has what they need to succeed. You'll be trusted to: Plan ahead and keep the crew moving forward. Read construction plans and turn them into an organized game plan. Lead by example in the field. Maintain high standards for craftsmanship, productivity and safety. Communicate early when something doesn't look right or the plan needs to change. Teach and mentor less-experienced teammates. Hold people accountable while still treating them with respect. Help develop a crew that takes pride in what they accomplish. Solve problems without creating new ones. Most importantly, GET THE WORK DONE — TOGETHER. Around here, we believe inDWC: Don't Wait. Communicate. Problems happen in construction. What matters is recognizing them early, communicating clearly and working together to solve them before they become bigger problems. WHAT WE BUILD Veritas Systems Construction is a third-generation family-owned construction company specializing insteel-wood hybrid building systems. Our crews erect structural steel frames, install wood purlins and girts, install metal roofing, siding and trims, and frame/install doors, windows and related building components. Every project is a little different, which means you'll need to be able tothink, adapt and lead — not simply follow a repetitive checklist. WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR Experience matters. Character and leadership matter even more. You do NOT need to come from the metal-building industry to be successful here. Steel-building experience is valuable, but we're more interested in finding someone who already knows how tolead people, read plans, organize work, solve problems and build things the right way. Maybe your background is in: Commercial Construction • Framing • Carpentry • Roofing • General Construction • Metal Buildings • Concrete • Superintendent or Crew Leadership If you understand construction fundamentals and have proven that you can lead a crew, we can teach you our building system. What is much harder to teach is mature leadership. We're looking for someone who can walk onto a jobsite, understand what needs to happen next and help a group of people accomplish it together. Some of the things we value most aren't always listed on a résumé: DEPENDABILITY. WORK ETHIC. HUMILITY. ACCOUNTABILITY. COMMUNICATION. POSITIVITY. HEART. We're looking for someone who: Earns respect instead of demanding it. Can coach others — and is still coachable themselves. Takes ownership when things don't go as planned. Communicates instead of assuming. Thinks ahead instead of waiting for the next problem. Wants the people around them to become better. And understands that leadership sometimes means picking up the tools and showing someone exactly how it's done.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: $30–$45 per hour, based on proven construction experience, leadership ability and skill set. We understand the value of an exceptional construction leader, and we're prepared to pay accordingly. Full-time • Monday–Friday • Occasional Saturdays when needed Benefits after eligibility include: Simple IRA with company match • PTO & sick leave • Paid holidays • Health insurance • Life insurance • Short- and long-term disability OSHA 10 preferred or willing to obtain. Bilingual English/Spanish, CDL, additional OSHA certifications and commercial or metal-building experience are valuable additions — but they aren't barriers to the right person. MAYBE YOU'RE OUR PERSON Maybe your current title isForeman, Superintendent, Lead Carpenter or Crew Leader. Maybe you've spent your career framing buildings, running commercial jobs or leading a crew in another part of the construction industry. Or maybe you're simply the person everyone naturally looks toward when something needs to get figured out and somebody asks: “Okay…how are we going to get this done?” We're not looking for someone who simply wants toBE the boss. WE'RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE PEOPLE WANT TO FOLLOW. Someone who wants to build great buildings. Someone who wants to build a great crew. Someone who takes pride in leaving a jobsite knowing: WE GOT SOMETHING GOOD DONE TODAY. If that's you, we'd like to talk. Veritas Systems Construction Protect the Culture. Raise the Standard. That's Veritas Built.
