Fire Protection Protect Manager

Location: Fully Remote – United States based only

Position Overview: We’re looking for an experienced Fire Protection Project Manager to take ownership of the project management function for a specialist fire protection engineering firm managing projects worth tens of millions of dollars. This is an opportunity for someone who understands the fire protection industry and can bring structure, consistency, and leadership to a growing project management function. Alongside overseeing projects and client relationships, you’ll establish standards, improve processes, and lead the wider project management team. A fire protection engineering degree is not required. Industry experience, strong project management skills, and the ability to lead people and deliver complex projects are the priorities.

Key Responsibilities: Lead project management operations across the business, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Establish, implement, and maintain consistent project management standards, processes, and procedures. Provide leadership and direction to project managers, supporting performance, accountability, and professional development. Oversee project schedules, budgets, resource allocation, risks, and financial performance. Monitor project progress, identify delivery issues, and implement corrective actions where necessary. Maintain strong relationships with clients, internal teams, and project stakeholders. Coordinate with engineering and technical teams to support effective project delivery. Develop reporting processes and performance metrics to improve visibility across the project portfolio. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and profitability. Ensure the project management function can scale effectively as the business grows.

Required Experience: Significant project management experience within the fire protection industry. A strong understanding of fire protection systems, engineering services, or related fire and life safety projects. A proven track record of managing complex projects, budgets, schedules, and client expectations. Previous experience leading project managers, coordinating project teams, or overseeing a project management function. Experience developing or improving project management processes, standards, and reporting. Strong commercial awareness, including project financials, resource planning, and risk management. Excellent communication, leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills. The ability to work independently and lead within a fully remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience within a fire protection engineering consultancy or specialist engineering firm. Experience managing multiple concurrent projects or large project portfolios. Familiarity with project management software, financial reporting tools, and resource planning systems. Relevant project management qualifications are beneficial but not essential. A fire protection engineering degree is not required. Practical industry knowledge, leadership experience, and a proven track record in project management are the main priorities.
