Trailer Technician

US Foods is seeking a Trailer Technician to keep our distribution fleet safe, reliable, and ready to serve customers nationwide. In this on-site role, you will inspect, diagnose, and repair dry and refrigerated trailers, including brakes, suspension, lighting, electrical, and liftgates, while performing DOT-compliant inspections and preventive maintenance. You will work in a fast-paced, safety-focused shop environment, collaborating with transportation and warehouse teams to minimize downtime and ensure on-time deliveries for our foodservice customers. Inspect, diagnose, and repair trailers, liftgates, and related systems to ensure safe operation Perform preventive maintenance on trailers per company and DOT standards Troubleshoot and repair electrical, brake, suspension, and lighting systems Document all work performed, parts used, and inspections in maintenance systems Conduct DOT-compliant inspections and prepare units for regulatory compliance Collaborate with fleet, warehouse, and transportation teams to minimize downtime Maintain a clean, safe shop environment and follow all safety policies and procedures Support on-call or after-hours repairs as needed to keep fleet operational Trailer inspection and repair Brake and air system service Electrical and lighting diagnostics Suspension and axle repair Preventive maintenance procedures DOT and safety compliance Hydraulic and liftgate repair Refrigerated trailer (reefer) systems Use of shop tools and diagnostic equipment Maintenance documentation and CMMS use Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k ASE Medium/Heavy Truck certifications preferred DOT inspection certification a plus Valid commercial or automotive driver’s license preferred Brake and air system training or certification preferred HVAC/refrigeration repair experience on reefer units preferred
