J MAR’s client, a well-capitalized midstream company, seeks an EHS&R Manager to join its leadership team, reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer. The company has a successful track record of developing, operating, and monetizing natural gas gathering and processing assets and is currently in an active growth phase, offering the opportunity to build and shape the EHS&R function with meaningful long-term incentive upside.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The EHS&R Manager will lead environmental, health, safety, and regulatory compliance across the company’s natural gas gathering, pipeline, treating, and processing operations. This hands‑on leadership role is well suited to a midstream professional with deep environmental and air compliance expertise and a solid working knowledge of operational safety and DOT/PHMSA pipeline programs. We do not expect any one candidate to be an expert in every area. Candidates with strong environmental experience and exposure to safety or pipeline regulatory programs are encouraged to apply.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead EHS&R programs, policies, and management systems, driving continuous improvement across midstream operations.
Manage environmental permitting and compliance, including air/NSR/Title V, OOOOa, emissions/GHG, SPCC, SWPPP, spills/leaks, and waste.
Oversee DOT/PHMSA pipeline compliance under 49 CFR Parts 192 and 195 and applicable state programs, working with Operations and third‑party consultants.
Provide operational safety oversight, including OSHA/PSM, MOC, PSSR, Permit to Work, and contractor safety.
Partner with Operations to support safe, compliant operation of gathering, treating, processing, compression, and pipeline facilities.
Develop EHS&R plans, procedures, and employee/contractor training programs.
Lead audits, field inspections, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
Coordinate regulatory reporting and agency interactions, and support emergency response and crisis management planning and exercises.
REQUIREMENTS
Required:
6+ years of EHS&R experience in midstream oil and gas, preferably natural gas gathering and processing.
Strong environmental compliance experience, including air permitting and air quality regulations applicable to midstream facilities.
Working knowledge of natural gas gathering, treating, processing, compression, and pipeline operations.
Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills with the ability to work independently and partner effectively with field operations and leadership.
Willingness to travel to field operations up to 50%.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Engineering, Safety, or related technical discipline.
Experience with DOT/PHMSA pipeline compliance programs (49 CFR Parts 192/195), such as OQ, O&M, Integrity Management, Control Room Management, and Public Awareness.
Experience with OSHA/PSM and operational safety programs such as MOC, PSSR, and Permit to Work.
