Temporary Payroll Specialist

Position Type: Temporary/ContractSchedule: Monday-Friday, Day Shift (typically 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM). Flexible scheduling available, including the option of four 10-hour days.

Position Overview: Our client is seeking a Temporary Payroll Specialist to support their organization during a transition period. This individual will assume full ownership of the payroll function following a recent departure and will manage payroll processing while company leadership evaluates the long-term structure of the department. This is a standalone payroll position responsible for processing payroll for approximately 370 employees, with a mix of weekly (80%) and bi-weekly (20%) payrolls. The ideal candidate will have prior payroll experience in a manufacturing or similar environment and strong experience with UKG payroll systems.

Key Responsibilities: Process accurate and timely payroll for approximately 370 employeesManage weekly and bi-weekly payroll cyclesReview and validate timesheets and payroll data prior to processingProcess payroll deductions, garnishments, taxes, and benefit withholdingsInvestigate and resolve payroll discrepanciesMaintain payroll records and employee payroll dataGenerate payroll reports and reconcile payroll information as neededEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulationsServe as the primary point of contact for payroll-related questions from employees and managementPartner with HR and Accounting to support payroll-related initiativesRequirements 3+ years of payroll processing experience preferredExperience managing payroll independently from start to finishUKG experience strongly preferredExperience with Epicor timekeeping is a plusKnowledge of payroll regulations, tax reporting, garnishments, and compliance requirementsStrong attention to detail and accuracyExcellent organizational and problem-solving skillsProficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reportingAdditional InformationImmediate need due to a recent vacancyPayroll currently reports through HR, though the future structure may change as new leadership joins the organizationFlexible work schedule availablePotential for the assignment to extend depending on business needsThis is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys working independently and taking ownership of the payroll function in a stable and growing organization.
