Cytotechnologist

Procedural Responsibilities: Responsible for using clinical history and other patient information in arriving at the proper diagnosis for each cytologic specimen Examine cytology specimens for the presence of abnormal cellular changes and pathogens Sign out all negative gynecologic cases Report other cytologic findings, such as the presence of microorganisms endocervical component Evaluate and mark GYN (reactive and reparative, abnormal, questionable or negative) Submit reactive and reparative, abnormal and questionable GYN cases to a pathologist for final evaluation Record the results of each GYN slide read on the appropriate form/systems/etc. used in the laboratory, in a legible manner Submit daily workload of negative GYN cases for a minimum of 10% quality control review (including random high-risk cases) by a supervisory qualified cytotechnologist.
