In this role you will lead the underwriting support within the Captive group, guiding daily operations and ensuring adherence to guidelines. You will help shape underwriting strategies through collaboration with underwriters and cross-functional partners. You'll drive operational efficiency, quality control, and risk management to support high-quality client service. Responsibilities:
- Supervise and develop the underwriting support team, delivering training and performance reviews
- Assist underwriters in evaluating new and renewal business while ensuring guideline adherence
- Oversee daily operations to ensure timely processing of applications, endorsements, and renewals
- Implement workflows and processes to boost efficiency and productivity
- Develop and enforce quality control measures for underwriting standards
- Collaborate with claims, risk control, and sales to ensure seamless service delivery and risk management
- Build strong relationships with brokers, agents, and clients to provide excellent service
- Prepare and present reports on underwriting performance and trends to senior management
Key requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial property and casualty underwriting
- At least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
- Strong knowledge of underwriting principles, practices, and guidelines
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Professional designations such as CRIS, CPCU, ARM, or AU are preferredleadershipcollaborationcommunicationproblem-solvingunderwriting software
