K–12 School-Based Academic Tutor

City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide in-class academic support in core subjects (math, ELA, science) Deliver small-group and one-on-one tutoring and homework help Mentor students to build social-emotional skills and positive habits Collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction Monitor and record student progress and attendance data Support classroom management and a positive learning environment Assist with after-school programs and enrichment activities Communicate regularly with team leaders and school staff Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and reflection sessions Model City Year’s values of inclusion, service, and social justice K-12 tutoring Lesson reinforcement and scaffolding Basic data tracking and progress monitoring Classroom management support Youth mentoring and relationship-building Written and verbal communication Time management and organization Basic educational technology (e.g., Google Classroom) Culturally responsive practices Collaboration within school teams Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k City Year AmeriCorps eligibility (U.S. citizen or legal resident) Background check clearance Experience working or volunteering with K-12 youth preferred
