Registered Nurse PCU Progressive Care

Methodist Healthcare in San Antonio seeks a Registered Nurse for our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The RN delivers high-acuity, evidence-based care to complex, medically stable patients transitioning from ICU or step-down. Responsibilities include comprehensive assessment, cardiac/telemetry monitoring, medication and IV administration, care planning, and timely documentation in the EHR. The nurse collaborates closely with physicians and the interdisciplinary team, educates patients and families, and supports safe discharge planning. Provide high-acuity progressive care to adult patients transitioning from ICU or step-down units Perform comprehensive assessments, monitor cardiac rhythms and telemetry, and respond to changes in patient condition Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely per provider orders and protocols Develop, implement, and update individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge plans Participate in rounds, communicate effectively with physicians and allied health professionals, and advocate for patients Support quality, safety, and evidence-based practice initiatives within the PCU Precept or mentor newer nurses and contribute to a collaborative, learning-focused culture Follow all infection prevention, regulatory, and hospital policies to ensure patient and staff safety Progressive care nursing Cardiac and telemetry monitoring Acute patient assessment Care planning and coordination IV medication administration Ventilator and respiratory support basics Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation Patient and family education Interdisciplinary collaboration Clinical decision-making and prioritization Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Active RN license in Texas or compact state Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) preferred Telemetry competency IV therapy certification preferred
