Aries Building Systems Upgrades Sunnyside Facility Over the years, Aries Building Systems has been contracted by Amtrak to deliver modular solutions on a variety of different projects. This spring, Aries is pleased to announce that our talented team of experts have been brought onboard Amtrak's latest effort to upgrade its Sunnyside, New York facility. Sunnyside Yards is an approximately 180-acre open rail yard network located east of Long Island City and west of Sunnyside Gardens. "The Yards" are an active rail corridor as well as a storage and maintenance facility for Amtrak and New Jersey Transit trains. Long Island Rail Road passenger trains also traverse the length of the yards en route to the East River Tunnels to the west and the Main Line to the east. Amtrak, MTA, and several private parties own the land that makes up Sunnyside Yards. The City of New York owns the air rights for certain parcels as well. As Amtrak is currently in the process of upgrading their Sunnyside facility, one of their first goals was to modernize its modular structures and mobile buildings. Aries Building Systems has been contracted to provide new men's and women's locker rooms, along with various new office space. These new modular units will be utilized by both Amtrak management and Amtrak maintenance and construction crews on a daily basis. See the NYCEDC for more information.
