Distribution Engineer

Responsibilities: Design and engineer electric distribution systems, typically 4kV–35kVPerform load flow, short-circuit, voltage drop, and system capacity studiesDevelop distribution system designs, one-lines, schematics, and engineering drawingsAnalyze feeders, transformers, switchgear, reclosers, regulators, capacitors, and other distribution equipmentPerform equipment sizing and engineering calculationsEvaluate system reliability, load growth, and capacity requirementsSupport distribution automation and DER/interconnection projectsReview engineering drawings, specifications, and construction packagesCoordinate with field engineers, construction teams, utilities, and other engineering disciplinesSupport project execution from initial design through construction and commissioningEnsure designs comply with applicable utility standards, NESC, IEEE, and other relevant requirementsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline 3+ years of electrical/distribution engineering experienceExperience with utility distribution systemsUnderstanding of medium-voltage electrical systemsExperience with load flow and short-circuit analysisKnowledge of distribution equipment and protectionAbility to read and develop electrical one-lines and engineering drawingsExperience with engineering software such as ETAP, CYME, Synergi, EasyPower, or similarStrong understanding of electrical power systems and utility engineering practicesPreferred SkillsDistribution systems 4kV–35kVFeeder design and analysisTransformer and switchgear sizingDistribution protectionDER/interconnection studiesDistribution automationOverhead and underground distributionUtility construction/design standardsExperience working directly with an electric utility
