Pathology Asst (non-union)

Key Responsibilities: Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens under the supervision of a pathologist. Prepare tissues for microscopic examination, ensuring accurate specimen accessioning and labeling. Assist in autopsies by collecting and preparing tissues, organs, and body fluids for analysis. Maintain accurate records of specimen handling, processing, and examination results. Perform special procedures such as photography and radiography of specimens as required. Assist in the teaching and training of pathology residents and medical students. Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines. Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care. Requirements Bachelor's degree in a biological science Master's degree in Pathologist Assistant Studies preferred Certification as a Pathologist Assistant (PA) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a pathology laboratory setting Proficiency in gross examination techniques, tissue processing, and laboratory procedures Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
