- This Is Not Your Typical Job Posting
Most job ads are full of corporate buzzwords, vague promises, and a laundry list of “requirements” that don’t tell you what the job is actually like. That’s not us.
We’re looking for the one person who reads this and thinks:“Yeah — I could do this, and I’d fit in here.”At PIRTEK Brooklyn, we keep New York’s equipment moving. From tugboats and shipyards to construction sites and industrial machines, when a hose blows or a machine goes down, work stops — and we’re the ones who get the call to get it running again. Fast.
This is hands-on work, real problem-solving, and real responsibility. If you want an easy, predictable desk job, this isn’t it. If you want a career where your work actually matters, keep reading.
Who We Are:
We’re a tight-knit Staten Island crew. We work hard, we bust chops, and we argue about important things — like who actually has the best pizza or bagels, and which New York team is going to inevitably break our hearts this season.
We’re NYC through and through, and we take pride in that. Our customers aren’t always easy, the work isn’t always clean, the weather doesn't always cooperate and breakdowns don’t care what time it is — but that’s exactly why they call us.A few things we take seriously:
- Communication matters. With customers and with each other.
- Processes exist for a reason. Following them keeps everyone safe and successful.
- Respect is non-negotiable. For customers, teammates, and equipment.
- We hustle — and we get rewarded for it.
- Our best techs treat a customer’s equipment like it’s their own. That mindset is why most of our customers stick with us long-term.
- We believe in win-win-win: the customer wins, the company wins, and the tech wins.
- What You’ll Actually DoThis isn’t a vague “technician” role. Here’s the real work:
- Drive a fully outfitted PIRTEK mobile service van across Brooklyn and the greater NYC area
- Respond to on-site breakdowns, routinely on an emergency basis
- Diagnose, replace, and install hydraulic and industrial hoses
- Work on:
- Marine equipment, tugboats, and shipyards
- Construction equipment
- Industrial machinery
- Machine servicing and cylinder repair
- Be part of the on-call rotation (yes, nights and weekends happen — and yes, you’re paid extra for it)
- Communicate clearly with customers — explaining what’s wrong and what it’ll take to fix itKeep your truck, tools, and paperwork in order so you’re always ready to roll
- You Might Be a Fit If…You like working with your hands and figuring things out
- You hustle and don’t need to be babysat
- You can stay calm when a customer is stressed and a machine is down
- You communicate well — problems don’t get ignored here
- You respect processes and understand they protect you
- You’re mechanically inclined (cars, boats, heavy equipment, machines — it all helps but specific experience isn't required)
- You don’t mind dirt, grease, tight spaces, or being on your feet
- You have a valid driver’s license and can pass a background and drug check
- No hose experience? No problem.
- We provide hands-on training and 24/7 technical support.
- Training & Growth4–6 weeks of structured training
- Then you’ll be trusted to run your own service calls
- Over time, you’ll gain specialized repair knowledge (marine, cylinders, advanced diagnostics)
- Strong performers can move into Lead Tech roles within 12–24 months
- This is a career path, not a dead-end job
Pay & Benefits:- $25–$35/hour depending on experience
- Commission-based sales incentives and performance bonuses
- Paid on-call premiums
- Company vehicle and phone
- Health benefits: medical, dental, and vision
- Paid time off and holidays
- Ongoing certified training and growth opportunities
- The Bottom LineThis job isn’t for everyone — and that’s intentional.
- But if you want:
- Real responsibility
- Real skills
- Real earning potential
- And to be part of a crew that actually has your back
- Then PIRTEK Brooklyn might be the right move for you.
