GENERAL SUMMARYThis role develops cost and lead time estimates in a low volume, high mix engineering and manufacturing environment. This is achieved by creating conceptual engineering with an understanding of the core principles of design for manufacturing, understanding contract requirements to develop engineering estimates, interpreting manufacturing data to developing cost estimates, and coordinating project hand-off to project management and assist with project schedule and budget to launch the new project. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES1. Read and interpret customer specifications, drawings, and contract documents to support the creation of cost estimates.2. Develop conceptual designs with an emphasis on manufacturing with input from Engineering and the customer as required.3. Coordinate cost estimates with company departments in reference to customer specification and contract requirements.4. Cross references conceptual designs with raw materials, components, and manufacturing data to create a cost estimate.5. Source materials and components cost necessary to estimate project costs.6. Create models and/or general assembly drawings of concepts for proposal7. Maintains detailed notes and information file structure to ensure good communication and an efficient transition to engineering and project management teams once a job has been awarded.8. Prepare tailored proposals and technical solutions and provide post-sale support to drive sales.9. Answering technical questions from customers via email, phone, or in-person meetings.10. Assist and support engineering design tasks when proposal activity is low.11. Performs all other duties as assigned.
