Bring the Sales Skills. We'll Teach You Flooring. Carpet City Flooring Center is looking for a motivated, relationship-driven salesperson to join our Racine team. You do not need flooring experience to be successful in this role. We can teach you the products, estimating process, and flooring industry. This is primarily an in-office/showroom-based sales position at our Racine location. Your home base will be the showroom, where you'll assist customers, manage projects, develop leads, prepare quotes, and build your sales pipeline. You won't spend every day on the road-but you also won't wait for every opportunity to walk through the front door. When it makes sense, you'll get out into the community for scheduled prospect meetings, customer visits, networking opportunities, and other business-development activities. On-Target Earnings: $60,000-$90,000+This position pays the higher of base pay or earned commission, giving you the security of a guaranteed base while providing the opportunity to increase your earnings as your sales grow.
Compensation: $60,000 - $90,000 hourly
Responsibilities:- Develop New Business We're looking for someone who enjoys the hunt as much as the sale. You'll take ownership of developing new opportunities and building a pipeline rather than relying solely on incoming showroom traffic.
- Prospect for new customers through phone calls, email, referrals, networking, and direct outreach
- Identify potential business with property managers, builders, remodelers, senior and assisted living communities, local businesses, and other organizations
- Initiate conversations and turn prospects into appointments, quotes, and customers
- Schedule and attend prospect and customer meetings outside the showroom when appropriate
- Reconnect with previous customers to generate repeat and referral business
- Consistently follow up on leads, open quotes, and potential opportunities
- Develop long-term relationships with new and existing accounts
- Maintain an active sales pipeline and take ownership of moving opportunities forward Sell from Our Racine Showroom Your primary workplace will be our Racine location. In addition to developing new business, you'll work directly with customers throughout the sales process.
- Welcome and assist customers in the showroom
- Ask the right questions to understand each customer's project, needs, budget, and timeline
- Recommend flooring products and solutions
- Coordinate measurements, estimates, product selections, and project details
- Prepare and present quotes and proposals
- Follow up on open quotes and ask for the sale
- Manage customer projects from initial conversation through installation
- Maintain accurate customer, project, and follow-up information
- Coordinate with installation and operations teams to provide a positive customer experience Qualifications: Flooring experience is not required. Sales experience is.
- We're especially interested in candidates who have experience in sales, prospecting, business development, account management, or another role where success required you to actively develop customers and relationships.
- You may be a great fit if you:
- Have previous sales, business development, account management, or prospecting experience
- Are comfortable picking up the phone and initiating conversations with people you don't already know
- Know how to build rapport and uncover a customer's needs
- Understand that consistent follow-up is a critical part of sales
- Are comfortable asking for appointments, referrals, and the sale
- Enjoy developing new business while also taking care of existing customers
- Are motivated by goals and the opportunity to grow your income
- Can independently manage leads, prospects, customers, and follow-up activities
- Are organized and able to manage multiple projects at different stages
- Are comfortable using technology to manage customer information, quotes, and sales activity
- Enjoy being part of a team while taking ownership of your individual results
- Experience in B2B sales, retail sales, account management, home improvement, building materials, construction, property management, restoration, real estate, automotive sales, business services, or other relationship-driven sales environments can translate well to this position.

- Starting new prospect conversations
- Turning outreach into appointments and sales opportunities
- Building and maintaining an active pipeline
- Following up on quotes and moving customers toward a decision
