Advanced Heart and Vascular Associates is a growing cardiovascular practice dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. We are seeking an experienced Medical Billing & Insurance Specialist who understands the complexities of cardiology billing and insurance processes and can confidently manage eligibility, benefits, and denial resolution. This is a detail-driven role that requires strong knowledge of insurance verification, coding fundamentals, and patient financial communication.
Key Responsibilities:- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to appointments
- Accurately determine and document deductibles, co-insurance, and co-pays
- Contact patients regarding outstanding balances and answer billing-related questions professionally
- Post patient payments and reconcile accounts
- Submit medical records to insurance companies through web portals
- Follow up on insurance denials and resolve claim discrepancies
- Work with referrals and prior authorizations to ensure compliance and payment accuracy
- Maintain accurate documentation in patient accounts and billing systems
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have hands-on experience and working knowledge of:
- Deductibles, co-insurance, and co-paysCPT codes and ICD-10 diagnosis codes
- Fee schedules and insurance allowables
- Referrals and prior authorizations
- Insurance claim denials and appeals processes
- Availity and other insurance eligibility/benefits web portals
- Microsoft Word (document creation and editing)
- Spreadsheet creation and modification (Excel or similar)
What We’re Looking For:- 2+ years of medical billing or insurance verification experience (cardiology or specialty practice preferred)
- Strong understanding of commercial and Medicare insurance plans
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Professional and confident when speaking with patients about balances
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Team player with strong communication skills
