- The Physical Reality
Fiber splicing is precision work — but it happens in a wide range of environments. Some days you're inside a splice van doing close, careful work. Other days you're up in a bucket truck, down in a manhole, or working in a trench. This role requires comfort working at heights and in confined spaces, in addition to sustained fine motor precision.
Extended periods of seated precision work inside the splice van or at a splice workstation
Regular work from ladders, bucket trucks, and aerial lift equipment (GAF poles) — fall protection required
Regular confined space work — manholes, trenches, pits, and other restricted access environments
Lifting and carrying cable reels, equipment cases, and tools up to 50 lbs.
Continuous fine motor work — fiber stripping, cleaving, positioning, and tray organization
Outdoor work in all weather conditions when working outside the splice van
This is a safety-sensitive position subject to pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol testing per company policy.
