What You'll Do:- Build genuine connections with members, connecting them to staff, programs, and the YMCA mission and core values
- Conduct fitness assessments and personal training sessions to determine each client's baseline abilities, needs, and physical condition
- Design safe, effective workout plans and coach proper form and breathing technique
- Maintain accurate client records and communicate with participants in a timely manner
- Ensure YMCA personal training policies are followed by both coworkers and clients
- Properly account for and process session payments and receipts
- Follow all safety and risk management protocols, reporting concerns to your supervisor
- Help promote the personal training program to members
- Keep training areas and equipment clean, organized, and properly maintained
- Stay knowledgeable about YMCA health and wellness programs and share that knowledge with members
- Attend staff meetings and follow/enforce dress code guidelines
Qualifications:- Personal Training Certification required
- Ability to motivate and inspire members toward health and wellness
- Comfort working with participants of all ages and fitness levels
- Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Organizational skills to track client progress over time
- Ability to stay calm and respond quickly in safety or emergency situations
- Comfort striking up conversations with new people and making everyone feel welcome
- Willingness to attend required training and meetings
- Must pass a criminal background check
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including bending, stooping, reaching, squatting, running, and stretching, sometimes for extended periods.
