My client is an early-stage rare mineral extraction company focused on developing innovative, efficient hydrometallurgical technologies to recover critical metals from mineral resources and next-generation, high-efficiency leaching technology designed for sustainable and scalable copper extraction. They are looking for a highly analytical and driven Hydrometallurgist / Chemist to support the development, optimization, and scaling of hydrometallurgical chemical processes for mineral extraction, purification, and refinement. This is an opportunity to join a high-growth organization and play a key role in advancing critical mineral processing from development through commercial production.
Responsibilities: Chemistry & Experimental Design:
  • Develop hypotheses and laboratory test programs to solve priority chemistry questions, using aqueous chemistry and thermodynamic tools such as OLI and HSC.Process Development:
  • Define chemistry requirements, operating windows, and process inputs to support mineral extraction, separation, purification, and optimization.
  • Scale-Up & Troubleshooting:
  • Support the transition from laboratory to pilot and commercial scale while troubleshooting chemical processing issues and providing technical support.
  • Materials & Analytical Analysis:
  • Apply XRD, XRF, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, SEM, and other analytical techniques while ensuring appropriate QA/QC, sample handling, and analytical methods.
  • R&D & Technical Reporting:
  • Develop novel reagents and processing methods, analyze results, and produce clear, traceable technical reports with actionable recommendations.
Qualifications: 3+ years of experience in analytical chemistry, aqueous chemistry, hydrometallurgy, experimental design, or related chemical-process development. M.S. or PhD in metallurgical engineering, chemical engineering, or any related field. Deep understanding of solvent extraction, ion exchange, electrowinning, electrorefining, transition metal chemistry, and / or materials characterization for copper applications.*Must be willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time. This includes domestic travel within the United States and potential international travel.*
