The Opportunity:
AMERI-CANS is a veteran-owned and operated national provider of temporary water solutions. We were founded on two principles: We listen directly to the needs of our customers. If we cannot find the solution on a shelf, we are going to build it, refine it, and constantly iterate. No task is too big or too small for any individual here. At some point or another, "everybody scrubs."We are building a national capability to deliver reliable potable-water and wastewater utility support to mission-critical construction, industrial, housing, and emergency-response environments. We are seeking a practical, technically credible leader to build and own the regulatory and operating framework behind that capability. This is an enterprise leadership position with meaningful field presence – not a desk-bound compliance role. The Director of Water and Wastewater Regulatory Compliance will scale existing standards for potable-water quality, transportation, storage, and distribution; wastewater hauling and disposal; permitting; environmental controls; regulatory relationships; and field execution across multiple states. The right person can interpret complex requirements, determine what matters operationally, and convert those requirements into straightforward systems that drivers, technicians, dispatchers, and branch leaders can execute consistently. The best person embodies our collective mindset that "Everybody Scrubs."What You Will OwnBuild and maintain a scalable, multi-state compliance program for potable-water and wastewater operations. Lead regulatory analysis, permitting, agency engagement, and launch readiness as AMERI-CANS enters new markets and supports new projects. Establish practical standards for water quality, equipment sanitation, inspection, traceability, sampling, testing, incident response, and corrective action. Oversee wastewater hauling permits, disposal approvals, environmental documentation, renewal requirements, and regulatory records. Develop field-ready training, inspection, audit, and reporting systems. Work directly with public water systems, utilities, health departments, environmental agencies, laboratories, engineers, and other authorities. Conduct field reviews of branches, yards, vehicles, equipment, and active projects and drive corrective actions through completion. Advise executive leadership on material risks, permit status, operational readiness, and emerging requirements. Partner with Operations, Fleet, Safety, and branch leadership to make compliance part of reliable day-to-day execution.
What We Are Looking For:- Significant progressive experience in potable water, water treatment, wastewater, environmental compliance, utility operations, mobile water systems, industrial water, municipal water, or a closely related field.
- Hands-on understanding of drinking water quality, treatment processes, sampling, sanitation, disinfection, filtration, or comparable technical water operations.
- Experience working directly with regulators, utilities, public water systems, environmental agencies, or local authorities.
- Demonstrated success building or materially improving programs across multiple locations, projects, or jurisdictions.
- The ability to translate regulations and technical requirements into simple, workable field procedures.
- Sound judgment, personal accountability, and the confidence to make decisions in ambiguous operating environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to travel regularly and work directly in field environments.
- Residence in, or willingness to relocate to, Virginia or Texas.
Particularly Relevant Experience:
Experience in one or more of the following environments would be valuable:
Municipal or industrial water and wastewater operations.
Mobile or temporary water-treatment systems.
Bulk-water transportation or tanker operations.
Emergency response or disaster relief.
Construction, infrastructure, data centers, energy, or remote-site operations.
Multi-state regulatory or environmental program leadership.
A water, wastewater, environmental, utility-operator, or related professional credential is valued. A civil, environmental, chemical, or water-resources engineering background may also be helpful.
A Professional Engineer license is not required. Practical operating experience, technical judgment, regulatory credibility, and the ability to build systems that work in the field are more important than letters after a name.
The Leadership Profile:
The right person is practical, direct, highly accountable, and comfortable at the point of friction. They can sit across the table from a regulator in the morning, inspect a tanker or field practice in the afternoon, and brief executive leadership that evening on what matters, what does not, and what must happen next. They do not confuse a polished compliance manual with a compliant operation. They build systems that crews can execute, verify that those systems are working, and step in early when people, customers, operations, or the company's reputation may be at risk. This is an opportunity to refine an important national capability and systematize its infrastructure. You will own difficult and consequential work and grow with an expanding organization.
